Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NIT Jalandhar), formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1987 in Punjab, India. The Government of India has declared this institute as the “Institute of National Importance” under the act of parliament. NIT Jalandhar ranks at 46th position in its engineering category as per NIRF Ranking 2023.

The flagship course offered at NIT Jalandhar is B.Tech. NIT Jalandhar B.Tech admission mandates a higher secondary degree (10+2) with 75% marks, accompanied by a valid score from entrance exams like JEE Main. Later the modes of admission will based on JoSAA/CSAB Counselling. For international applicants, modes of counselling will be DASA/ICCR. After this, seats will be allocated to candidates. In the academic year 2021-22, 4020 students (2636 males and 1384 females) were admitted to different undergraduate programs. NIT Jalandhar offers a four-year postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, etc. Admission in any one of these courses will require a valid GATE score followed by CCMT counselling. The online application process for GATE 2024 has commenced from August 30, 2023.

Candidates are offered a two-year postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Seat allotment at NIT Jalandhar will be based on “Common Percentile” as per the JAM score followed by a centralised counselling process. Registration for IIT JAM have already started. Candidates are advised to fill out the application form to avoid any late fees.

NIT Jalandhar offers a doctoral degree in both full-time and part-time modes in disciplines like Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc. Candidates who are qualified for the Individual Fellowship Category (GATE/CSIR/UGC-NET/GPAT) are not required to appear in the institute’s written test. Their selection is solely dependent on their performance in the “presentation and interaction” session with their supervisors.
