UGC NET Application Form 2024: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must carefully read the UGC NET 2024 eligibility criteria before filling the application form. The following candidates are eligible to apply for UGC NET exam:
- Candidates with a Master’s degree who have secured at least 55% marks (50% in case of OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender category candidates) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination can apply.
- Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or who have appeared for their final year examination can also apply for the UGC-NET exam. However, such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks (55% marks for General/ General EWS/ Unreserved candidates and 50% for OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third Gender category candidates).
- Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) can appear for UGC NET. A relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) will be granted to such candidates.
UGC NET Age Limit 2024
- For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), candidates should not be more than 30 years of age as on the 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded. A relaxation of 5 years is provided for candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third Gender category.
- There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.
