Who releases the UGC NET Cut Off?

The National Testing Agency, NTA is responsible for releasing the Cut Off of UGC NET. Candidates who wish to get a shortlist for the position of JRF  or Assistant Professorship, are required to secure qualifying marks in both the papers of UGC NET. The UGC NET Cut Off is always released on the official website of the NTA -- ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The UGC NET Cut Off is the minimum qualifying mark required for candidates to clear the UGC NET Exam. At first, the NTA releases the provisional answer key after which the students have the opportunity to raise objections.

Once the students raise objections, the education body then analyses the objection, and then, the results are made. Lastly, NTA releases the results along with the final answer key. Finally, the exam conducting body afterwards releases the Cut Off.

The NTA was established as an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization body by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI). The body was conducted to set efficient, transparent, and international standards tests to evaluate candidates for admission to prestigious higher education institutions. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has tasked the NTA with conducting UGC NET, which determines whether a student is eligible for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges.

If a student has passed the UGC NET exam, then he or she will be given a stipend of Rs 8,000 per month, whereas candidates who will clear the JRF exam will receive a monthly payment of Rs 35,000. In order to take the position of Assistant Professor, the student who has cleared the NET has to appear for two other rounds including WAT and interview based on which their selection process will be determined. On the other hand, students who clear the JRF can directly appear for the interview round and are allowed to skip the WAT test. However, even in some scenarios, the interview for the students who have clear JRF is also exempted.

Apart from working as Assistant Professors, students can also work in private sector firms including ONGC, NTPC, EdCIL, etc. However, candidates will only be appointed in these private sector firms only if they have certain years of experience.
