TS ICET Results 2023: Normalisation of Marks
Since the TSICET exam is conducted in multiple shifts, the difficulty level of the question paper given in each shift may vary. This may lead to inaccurate comparison of scores secured by the candidates.
As a solution to this, the marks scored by the candidates are normalised using the normalisation procedure which has been explained below:
- The normalisation of marks is a process used by some educational institutions to ensure fairness in comparing the performance of candidates who have taken the entrance exam in multiple sessions or shifts
- Since the difficulty level of different question papers may vary slightly, normalisation helps to address any differences in the level of difficulty and ensures that no candidate is disadvantaged due to the specific paper they received
- The normalisation process typically involves converting the raw scores of candidates into a standardized score, taking into account the average performance of all the candidates and the standard deviation of their scores
- This ensures that the final scores of candidates reflect their relative performance compared to all other candidates who took the exam
