GATE Cutoff 2025 - Branch-wise GATE Exam Cut off for CS, EE, ME, EC, CE, CY
The qualifying and admission cutoff are two types of the GATE cutoff. The lowest score needed to pass the exam is called the qualifying cutoff. The GATE admission cutoff shows the minimum score needed for admission to IITs, NITs, and GFTIs.GATE Cutoff 2025 is released by IIT Roorkee at gate2025iitr.ac.in. The category-wise GATE 2025 Cutoff will be announced after the result is announced. GATE result 2025 is expected to be released likely on March 19, 2025, as per the official notice. GATE Cutoff for Computer Science is expected to remain around in the range of 27-29 for general candidates; while for OBC and SC/ST categories it would be 24-25 and 18-20, respectively. GATE 2025 Cutoff will differ category-wise and subject-wise.
The GATE cutoff for PSU is separately released by participating Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Based on these cutoff scores, qualified candidates will be called for the interview round. The final recruitment in PSUs is done on the basis of the final merit list released by respective PSUs. GATE Cutoff for ONGC, Coal India, IOCL, HPCL, and others is given on this page below. Candidates can check the expected cutoff for GATE PSU recruitment on the basis of past cutoff trends.
GATE expected Cutoff 2025 will be released just after the exam is conducted. The expected cutoff is released by various coaching institutes based on the papers’ difficulty level across all shifts and the total number of candidates who appeared in the examination. The GATE exam cut-off will be provided here as well.
The GATE cutoff is divided into qualifying cut off and admission cut off. The qualifying cutoff just indicates the minimum marks required by candidates out of 100 to pass the exam. On the other hand, the GATE admission cutoff indicates the minimum marks required by candidates for admission to IITs, NITs & GFTIs. Scoring qualifying marks in the GATE 2025 exam does not necessarily mean that the candidate will be granted admission.

What is GATE Qualifying Cutoff & Admission Cutoff?
The GATE Cutoff is of two types: Qualifying Cutoff & Admission. Below are the detailed description of both types of cutoff.
GATE Qualifying Cutoff
- It is the minimum score, which varies for each of the 29 disciplines for which GATE is conducted, that applicants must obtain in order to be considered for the exam. Additionally, it differs for other aspirant categories.
- The qualifying cutoff is released by the exam conducting body.
GATE Admission Cutoff
- It is the minimum score needed to enrol in a programme in participating institutes.
- The admission cutoff is released separately by GATE-participating colleges.
