GATE Cutoff 2024 for CS, ME, EE, CE, EC - GATE PSU Cutoff, previous year Cutoff

The qualifying and admission cutoff are two types of the GATE cutoff. The lowest score needed to pass the exam is called the qualifying cutoff. The GATE admission cutoff shows the minimum score needed for admission to IITs, NITs, and GFTIs.

GATE Cutoff 2024

GATE Cutoff 2024: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has released the GATE cutoff 2024 on the official website. The cutoff is the minimum marks required by candidates to qualify the GATE 2024 exam. The GATE counselling will be open to candidates who clear the cutoff.

The GATE cutoff is divided into qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff. The qualifying cutoff just indicates the minimum marks required by candidates out of 100 to pass the exam. On the other hand, the GATE admission cutoff indicates the minimum marks required by candidates for admission to IITs, NITs & GFTIs. Scoring qualifying marks in the GATE 2024 exam does not necessarily mean that the candidate will be granted admission.

The GATE cutoff for PSU is separately released by participating Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Based on these cutoff scores, qualified candidates will be called for the interview round. The final recruitment in PSUs is done on the basis of the final merit list released by respective PSUs.

What is GATE Qualifying Cutoff & Admission Cutoff?

The GATE Cutoff is of two types: Qualifying Cutoff & Admission. Below are the detailed description of both types of cutoff.

GATE Qualifying Cutoff

  • It is the minimum score, which varies for each of the 29 disciplines for which GATE is conducted, that applicants must obtain in order to be considered for the exam. Additionally, it differs for other aspirant categories.
  • The qualifying cutoff is released by the exam conducting body.

GATE Admission Cutoff

  • It is the minimum score needed to enrol in a programme in participating institutes.
  • The admission cutoff is released separately by GATE-participating colleges.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who releases the GATE cutoff 2024?

The GATE cutoff will be released by the exam conducting body. The GATE exam 2024 is being conducted by IISc Bangalore.

What factors are used to determine the GATE 2024 Cutoff?

The cutoff score is influenced by a variety of parameters, including the number of open seats, the number of applicants, the performance of the applicant, and the difficulty of the entrance exam.

Is clearing GATE qualifying cutoff enough for admission?

No, to be admitted to any one of the participating institutions in the course of their choice, candidates must clear the GATE admission cutoff.

What is the difference between GATE qualifying cutoff & admission cutoff?

The qualifying cutoff just indicates the minimum marks that must be obtained by candidates in order to qualify the examination. The admission cutoff determines whether the candidate is eligible for final admission to a participating institute or not. The qualifying cutoff for the GATE 2023 exam will be released by IIT Kanpur, while the admission cutoff will be released by participating colleges separately.

What was the GATE cutoff 2023 for the General category for Computer Science?
