BITSAT Counselling Steps

Step 1-Registration: Qualified applicants will need to register online for Counselling on the official website. They will also be asked to provide personal and educational details about themselves. Such details will include contact, name, DOB, and mark sheets.

Step 2- Choice Filling: Once the registration for Counselling is completed, students will need to select the courses and BITS campuses they are interested in. The seat allotment will be done by examining the student's performance and preference.

Step 3- BITSAT Seat Allotment: The Allotment will be conducted in the form of Iterations. This will be processed by considering the availability of seats in different courses and campuses, the number of total withdrawals and non-reporting, performance of individuals in the BITSAT exam and class 12th. During the process, students will be divided into an Admit list and a Waitlist. Applicants on the admit list who end up withdrawing will be replaced by students on the waitlist. Factors that would determine the seat allotment will include:

  • Number of available seats (Campus)
  • Number of available seats (Course)
  • Number of withdrawals and non-reporting
  • Marks scored in the board examination
  • Board Topper Status
  • BITSAT 2026 rank and score of the candidate
  • Number of seats remaining after completion of each Iteration of the Counselling

Step 4- Reporting to campus: During the pre-allocation process, shortlisted students will be asked to report to the campus to complete the admission procedure. If the candidate's first choice program is not offered, they will continue to be placed on the waiting list for that program at all campuses, up until all admissions are decided.

Step 5- Document Verification and Fee Payment: Students must provide the required documents and the fee in order to confirm their admissions. Failing to do so will lead to the disqualification of students and the next candidate on the waiting list would be approached.

Step 6- Provisional Admission: Candidates will be given provisional admission after their fee has been paid and all of their documentation has been thoroughly verified. The students will also receive the final allotment letter from the respective college.
