National Institute of Technology, Sikkim: Situated near the beauty of river Ravangla, the NIT Sikkim was established in the year 2010 offering 17 different courses across its 9 departments in engineering, science, humanities and, social sciences disciplines. Currently, NIT Sikkim functions from its temporary campus at Ravangla while the land of 100 acres has been provided for the proposed permanent campus of the institution at Khamdong which is astern to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Ravangla campus.

A four-year degree in five specialisations namely Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, Computer science and engineering, Electrics and Electronic engineering, Electronics and Communication engineering respectively. While on the postgraduate level, the institute offers M.Tech and M.Sc degrees. Doctorates in multiple disciplines are also offered by the institution.

NIT Sikkim Placements

All the campus placement and internship opportunities provided to students are held by the Training and Placement Cell of NIT Sikkim, bridging the gap between industry professionals and students. In the placement session 2022 the institute witnessed 80.84% of the students successfully securing placements across multiple reputed companies. While the students from every branch of engineering record 100% of internships every year from the college.

In the placement drive 2023 the median package offered to B.Tech students stood at INR 8.50 LPA and INR 8.20 for M.Tech respectively. The Computer Science and Engineering branch witnesses a maximum number of job offers every year.

NIT Sikkim Infrastructure Facilities

Central Library: In the year 2012 Knowledge and Information Centre was established by the institution to cater academic needs of individuals through a wide variety of books, journals, research papers, and reference books, providing strong academic support with all necessary resources to the students.

Accommodation Facilities: Due to the current functioning of the institution from its temporary campus the NIT Sikkim has limited accommodation facilities as of now. However separate boys and girls hostels are made within the campus premises and are fully wifi enabled with amenities like a common room, play area, gym room, TV, etc.

Mess Facilities: Separate mess running for boys and girls within the campus and one common mess outside the campus provide students with a variety of food options. All the messes are headed by the chief warden along with other wardens.

Sports Facilities: Indoor and outdoor game facilities catering to the needs of all the students are made available by the institution to promote a healthy environment of learning. Inter-NIT game tournaments are also held annually by the college.

Healthcare Facilities: The college has a medical unit operating from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm providing all kinds of medical aid to its students, along with two general physicians, and one orthopedic specialist regularly visiting the college campus from the nearby government health centers.
