Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Varanasi: IIHT or the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology located in the spiritual city of Varanasi, dates back to British-era,in 1956, the Central Weaving Institute. was taken over by the All India Handloom Board on behalf of the Central Govt. and became a part of the Textile Commissioner’s Office, the Institute was renamed as Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, in 1976, and it has been functioning under the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles.
IIHT Varanasi offers B.Tech, a Three-year Diploma and a 1.5-year Diploma in Handloom and Textile technology. The programs are approved by the AICTE and affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow.
The average fee for a four-year Year B.Tech degree program is INR 19,500 in the first year and INR 17,000 Per annum from 2nd year onwards.
