UPSC Result 2026: Prelims Result (OUT), Merit List PDF, Mains Exam

UPSC Result 2026: The UPSC Prelims examination was conducted on May 24, 2026, throughout the country. This year, as many as 8,19,372 applicants have registered for UPSC CSE 2026 for around 933 vacancies. The commission has released the UPSC prelims result 2026 on June 15, 2026. The UPSC prelims result 2026 has been declared on the official website of the Commission - upsc.gov.in.

After the announcement of the UPSC prelims examination result, candidates qualifying the exam can appear for the mains examination. Once the complete process of prelims, mains and interview is completed, the commission will release the list of candidates selected. The UPSC merit list PDF contains the name & roll numbers of candidates who are selected for the recruitment in various services covered under the UPSC CSE exam. Last year, Anuj Agnihotri secured AIR 1, followed by Rajeshwari Suve M (AIR 2).

UPSC 2026 Prelims Result 

Candidates can check their UPSC 2026 result on the official website of UPSC. Many candidates claim that this year's UPSC prelims examination was tougher in comparison to previous years' exams. This year’s paper one featured Economy (19 questions), Environment (11), Geography (13), History & Art & Culture (20), Polity & Governance (8), Science & Technology (18), and Miscellaneous (11).

After the declaration of the UPSC final result 2026, the commission will also release the UPSC result 2026 PDF, which contains the marks obtained by the candidates in different phases- prelims, mains, and interview of the UPSC exam. Along with it, the UPSC cut-off 2026 will also be announced for all the candidates on the official website. Candidates who qualify for the UPSC exam will be appointed as IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, depending upon their ranks and preferences.

The commission last year published the list of qualifying candidates for the UPSC CSE Mains 2025 exam on November 11, 2025. A total of 2736 qualifying candidates will proceed to the next stage of recruitment, i.e., Personality Test (Interview). The Union Public Service Commission announced the UPSC Prelims Result 2025 on June 11, 2025.

UPSC Prelims Result 2026

The UPSC IAS prelims result is issued after the successful conclusion of the preliminary exam. The results are published in PDF format and include the roll number of selected applicants. Once released, the UPSC Prelims Result 2026 Link will be available on this page.

Shortlisted candidates are eligible to appear for the UPSC Mains examination. The number of candidates who qualified for the UPSC IAS exam result is 10-12 times the number of posts announced by the UPSC. 

UPSC Final Result 2026

The UPSC final result last year was released on March 6, 2026, following the end of the interview phase. The post would be assigned to candidates based on their rank. Candidates in the top 200-300 are appointed to the posts of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and the Indian Police Services (IPS).

UPSC 2026 Mains Result 

The UPSC IAS Mains Result last year was released after the conclusion of the mains round. As per the commission, 2736 candidates are shortlisted for the Personality Test, which will soon be conducted by the commission. The UPSC CSE mains result is released in the form of a PDF containing the roll numbers of shortlisted candidates.

What is DAF Form in IAS exam?

Candidates clearing the IAS prelims result are required to fill up the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for mains examination. The form consists of 6 modules, each of which is necessary to fill out. Candidates are also required to pay a fee of INR 200 while filling out the UPSC IAS DAF. 

Service and cadre preferences are two of the most essential categories to fill out in the DAF. It is recommended that candidates think carefully before filling out the service preferences and cadre preferences, since once they have been filled out and submitted, they cannot be changed.

Detailed Application Form 2026: Guidelines

• Candidates can access the DAF form on the official website of UPSC. The application form is to be filled online only.
• Candidates must confirm that all columns are correctly filled out. The Commission will not accept correspondence from applicants seeking to modify any of the entries submitted in the online Detailed Application Form.
• To fill out the Online Detailed Application Form (DAF), candidates must first register at www.upsc.gov.in after qualifying the IAS prelims.
• Name (as documented on the matriculation/secondary examination certificate), Roll Number (in six digit format), Date of Birth (as recorded on the matriculation/secondary examination certificate), and e-mail address are required on the DAF registration module.
• Once registered, candidates can login with their email address and password.
• The DAF form will appear on the screen which has six modules as follows:

1. Personal Information
2. Educational Information
3. Parental Information
4. Employment Information
5. Upload documents
6. Final Submission

Candidates must fill out all modules in totality before the Form is submitted online. Candidates must save each module after filling out it. Candidates will, however, have the chance to make modifications to any module before submitting the DAF. Once the Final Submission has been made, no changes can be made online.
