Panjab University (PU), commonly known as Panjab University Chandigarh (PUCHD) was established in1882, is a public research university located in Chandigarh, India. The University has been recognized by the UGC as the "University with Potential for Excellence in Biomedical Sciences" with facilities for Stem Cell Research and Drug Development and accredited by NAAC with ‘A++’ Grade.
The university has 6 Constituent Colleges located at Sikhwala, Balachaur , Nihal Singh Wala, Dharamkot , Mokham Khan Wala and Guru Har Sahai. And a total of 202 affiliated colleges spread over Punjab and one Rural Regional Centre at Kauni, and 3 Regional Centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur.
The university offers a diverse range of more than 850 courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels throughout 78 departments. Panjab University offers a variety of popular undergraduate programs, including business & management, visual arts, medical sciences, languages, and B.A., B.Sc., LLB, BPEd, and B.Tech.
The university conducts various entrance exams for admission to various courses, including the PU CET UG, PUCET PG, PU MET, PU LAW, PUTHAT, PULEET, MBA USOL, PU MPhil, and PhD while the scores of JEE Mains, CAT and NEET exam are also considered for admission in relevant courses. Punjab University is known for its excellent infrastructure facilities scattered across a vast 550-acre area of campus. Mentioned below are the numerous facilities on campus-
The University is filled with a cluster of significant structures including the Gandhi Bhawan, the Fine Arts Museum, the University Library and the Student Centre form the hub of social interaction. Among all the most artistic buildings is the Gandhi Bhawan, a three-winged monument that is regarded as its pride.
The institute has a well equipped infrastructure, including a school, guest houses, faculty houses, seminar complexes, alumni houses, community centers, swimming pools, gyms, sports grounds, health centers, banks, post offices, and open-air theaters.
The Campus offers around 8 hostels for boys, 10 hostels for girls, a Working Women Hostel and International Hostel and 2 sports hostels.
The University has excellent sports facilities offering playgrounds for all the major sports whether indoor or outdoor including two football grounds, two Kho-Kho courts,air conditioned gymnasium hall, an international level Swimming Pool, Diving Pool and many more.
