Established in 1965, the National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala), formerly known as the Tripura Engineering College is a public engineering college in Tripura, India. Located on 365 acres of land, NIT Agartala offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees in engineering, architecture, basic sciences, biotechnology, humanities, and social sciences. NIT Agartala secured 82nd rank in the engineering category by the  NIRF Ranking 2024.

NIT Agartala B.Tech. admission mandates candidates with a Higher Secondary Certificate degree (10+2) with a minimum of 75% of marks. NIT Agartala B.Tech tuition fee is INR 62,500 per semester for general candidates (GEN/OBC). SC/ST/PH candidates shall be exempted from tuition fees. Candidates from the Most Economically Backward category whose family income is less than INR 1 Lakh will get full remission of the tuition fees. Whereas, for the Other Economically Backward category (whose family income is between 1-5 Lakh), candidates will get a two-thirds remission of the tuition fee.

NIT Agartala Ph.D. Admission 2025

NIT Agartala offers Ph.D. admission in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and  Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with full-time scholarships and self-financed scholarships. It mandates a master’s degree with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA in a 10-point grading system. The selection criteria will be based on the NIT Agartala’s entrance test followed by a personal interview round.  Candidates with a valid UGC/CSIR-NET/GATE/NBHM score are exempted from taking the NIT Agartala’s entrance exam and will be directly shortlisted for their interview round.
