AP TET eligibility 2024 criteria are mainly based on the educational qualification of the candidate and the age limit of the candidate. Candidates are required to meet the eligibility criteria for Paper 1 and Paper 2 to appear for the exam.

AP TET Eligibility Criteria 2024: The eligibility criteria for the AP TET exam are based on the age limit as well as the educational qualification of the candidate. Candidates are required to meet the  AP TET eligibility criteria 2024 for Paper 1 (Part A & B) and Paper 2 (Part A & B) to appear for the exam. 

The AP TET exam is divided into two different parts including Part I and Part II. While paper I is for the candidates who intend to become teachers for classes 1 to 5, paper II is for those candidates who want to teach students of classes 6 to 8. Furthermore, both papers are divided into two parts -- parts A and B. 

AP TET Eligibility 2024

Candidates at the time of applying for the teacher eligibility test are required to follow the minimum qualification prescribed for the category for paper - I and paper - II separately. The AP TET exam is going to be conducted from October 3 to October 20, 2024. The official notification contains all the important information including the eligibility, admit card dates, exam dates, and others. 

AP TET Eligibility 2024: Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply for the AP TET 2024 exam. However, there is no maximum age criteria for applicants. 

AP TET Eligibility 2024: Qualifications for Paper 1 - Part A 

There are two parameters for minimum qualification prescribed for the category of I to V classes paper I. Candidates applying for AP TET must fulfil at least one of the parameters to be eligible for appearing in the AP TET examination. The parameters are listed below. 

  • Applicants must have achieved a 50% mark in intermediate, senior secondary (or its equivalent), graduation, or a postgraduate degree. Candidates from the SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled categories are given an exemption since they just need to have secured 45%. And ass in a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)/Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), as per the official notification.
  • Candidates who are in Intermediate or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) shall get a minimum of 45% marks, according to the official notice. Candidates who fall under the categories of SC, ST, BC, or candidates with a disability must obtain 40% and must have completed a 2-year elementary education diploma, a 4-year bachelor's degree in elementary education (B.El.Ed. ), a 2-year special education diploma, or a bachelor's degree in education (B.Ed.).

NOTE:  For candidates who have already applied for admission to the Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education, or an equivalent programme prior to July 29, 2011, the minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable.

AP TET Eligibility: Qualification for Paper 1 – I B (Special Schools)

RCI Qualifications Elementary: 

According to the Department of School Education in Andhra Pradesh's official announcement, a number of qualifications are required for the AP - TET PAPER - I B. (CLASSES I TO V). To be eligible to take the teacher eligibility test, applicants for the AP TET must meet one of the following requirements specified by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

Candidates must have completed intermediate or senior high school as well as two years of special education coursework in any category of disability, according to the official notice.

                                                    (or)

Intermediate/Senior Secondary and a one-year Diploma in Special Education (DSE) in any category of impairment.

                                                    (or)

With a six-month Certificate course in the Education of Children with Exceptional Needs, candidates can get a Diploma in Community-Based Rehabilitation (DCBR).

                                                     (or)

A six-month Certificate programme in the Education of Children with Exceptional Needs is required for the Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (PGDCBR).

                                                       (or)

Education of Children with Exceptional Needs Certificate with a 06-month Multi Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) Diploma.

                                                        (or)

Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf.

                                                        (or)

Primary level Teacher Training course in Visual Impairment.

                                                         (or)

Candidates should have a diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation – Mental Retardation (DVR-MR) / Diploma in Vocational Training and Employment – Mental Retardation (DVTE-MR) with a 6 months certification course in the education of children with exceptional needs.

                                                           (or)

With a six-month Certificate degree in the Education of Children with Exceptional Needs, candidates should also have a Diploma in Hearing, Language, and Speech (DHLS).

                                                            (or)

Passing marks in intermediate or senior high school combined with any RCI-recognized certification that is at least one year in duration and a six-month certificate programme in the education of children with special needs.

Any other equivalent qualification approved by RCI. 

AP TET Eligibility 2024: Qualification for Paper II A (Classes VI to VIII)

Applicants must meet one of the two eligibility requirements listed below in order to be considered for the category of AP TET Paper II A (Classes VI to VIII) for the Mathematics and Science Teachers/Social Studies subjects.

Candidates must have scored at 50 marks in any graduation in the concerned subject. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled categories should secure at least 40 % marks and should pass the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed Special Education). 

                                                        OR 

Candidates should score at least 50% marks in 4-year B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. On the other hand, candidates of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled should score minimum marks shall be 45%. 

Language Teachers (Classes VI to VIII)

The qualifying requirements listed below must be met by an applicant if they choose to be considered for the position of a language teacher. Candidates should have completed a bachelor's degree with language as one of the optional subjects, or candidates should have completed a bachelor's degree in literature, an advanced degree in the relevant language, a language pandit training certificate, or a B.Ed with the relevant language as one of the methodologies, in the case of language teachers.

AP TET Eligibility 2024: Qualification for paper II B for classes VI to VIII (Special Schools)

As per the official notification, aspirants who have B.Ed.(Special Education)/ B.Ed.(General) along with one-year diploma in B.Ed.(General) with one year Diploma in Special Education / B.Ed. (General)/B.Ed.(Special Education)/ with two years Diploma in Special Education / B.Ed.(General)/ PG Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation) / with Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Special Education (PGDC)/PG Diploma in Special Education (Locomotor Impairment/ PG Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disability: Physical & Neurological)/ Senior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf / BA B.Ed. in Visual impairment/ any other equivalent qualification which has been approved by RCI.
