Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC) was established in 2000 in Durgapur, and is one of the earlier private engineering colleges in West Bengal. The college is approved by AICTE, affiliated to MAKAUT, and several of its programs are accredited by the NBA. Over the years, BCREC has expanded to offer 10 B.Tech programs, 4 M.Tech programs, and postgraduate courses in Management and Computer Applications. The campus covers about 17 acres and has separate academic buildings for each department, well-equipped laboratories, a central library, gyms, sports areas, and hostel facilities.

The college puts a strong focus on training and placements. Students undergo semester-long placement preparation, and those aiming for higher studies are guided through GATE coaching.
