ICSI CS Exam Pattern: Check Exam Pattern for CSEET, CS Executive and CS Professional Programmes

ICSI CS Exam Pattern 2023:  ICSI CS exam pattern is counted as one of the most essential factors that a candidate must consider while preparing for the CS exam. The exam pattern helps the candidate to have an idea of topics with different weightage. The exam pattern as well as the syllabus is laid out by ICSI and candidates can check the details from the official website.  Before commencing the exam preparation, candidates are advised to consider the exam pattern. 

Apart from the weightage part, the exam pattern will also help the candidate have an idea of details such as examination mode, exam duration modules, question type, etc.  While the ICSI CS syllabus has been changed, the ICSI exam pattern remains the same for this year's exam. Aspirants should also consider the ICSI CS marking scheme. Meanwhile, the ICSI has already released the dates for the CS exam for June 2023.  The exams began on June 1 and will come to an end on June 10, 2023.  

Candidates should note that the CS exam will be conducted in offline mode, which means candidates have to appear at the exam centre in order to give the examination.  Candidates should further know that the CS exam has two modules - Executive and Professional.  The executive module of the exam consists of negative marking whereas the professional module does not consist of negative marking.

The ICSI has announced the dates for the executive and professional programme.  Hence, it is important for students to go through the exam pattern and exam syllabus for a better preparation strategy. While there are two programmes, the executive programme of the ICSI exam has two modules. Module 1 has 4 papers, whereas Module 2 has 4 papers. On the other hand, in the professional programme, there are 3 modules, and each module has 3 papers.  

ICSI CS Exam Pattern: Important Points 

CSEET Exam Pattern 

The CSEET examination will be held as an online proctored examination. The exam will be of two hours and consists of 200 marks. Further, the exam will take place in the English language and the mode of the questions will be MCQ. Candidates must note that there is no need for a pre-examination requirement. NOTE:  All papers in the Executive Program combine 20% case-based, objective-type questions with 80% descriptive questions, with the exception of Paper No. 4 (Corporate Accounting and Financial Management), which is 100% descriptive as per the official notification of ICSI.

ICSI CS Marking scheme 

Before appearing for the examination, candidates are advised to check the marking scheme of the ICSI exams including both the programmes - ICSI CS Executive Programme and ICSI CS Professional Programme. 

Marking Scheme for CS Executive Programme 

The marking scheme for the CS Executive programme has been further divided into two parts. While there is a different marking scheme for descriptive questions,  ICSI provides a different marking scheme for objective questions. 

For descriptive questions - There is no negative marking for questions which have a descriptive mode. 

For objective questions - Questions which are objective in nature will have 0.25 marks deducted for wrong responses and 1 mark will be given for correct answers. 

Marking Scheme for CS Professional Programme 

According to the official exam pattern, the professional programme will not have any negative marking for any incorrect answers, whereas every correct answer will be awarded two marks.

ICSI Qualifying Marks for Executive and Professional Programme 

Candidates must know that the qualifying marks for the CS executive and professional programme is set as a minimum of 40 % marks, whereas candidates are required to score  50% marks in the aggregate of all subjects.

ICSI CS Medium of Executive/Professional Exam 2023

The CS examination will be conducted in both the languages Hindi and English. The ICSI will be conducted in offline mode only. Candidates are advised to check the official notification released by the ICSI on the official website.
