Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), Chennai, has a structured process for Ph.D admissions, as described through the institution’s Ph.D regulations and information booklet. A candidate can apply online to either full-time or part-time (founder-chancellor fellows, NET-JRF or self-funded) positions. Most candidates are required to sit for a written entrance exam (70% weightage) followed by an interview (30%), unless the candidate has successfully completed a national fellowship (i.e., NET-JRF, GATE, DBT) in which case they qualify directly for counseling.  Candidates are required to meet minimum eligibility standards which typically consist of a master’s degree in a specified discipline (i.e., Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, etc.). The university completes an annual timeline for each session (i.e., application deadlines, exam date, interview date, counseling, etc.) for Ph.D admission to include options in integrated Ph.D., split Ph.D., and part-time Ph.D. The admission process concludes with provisional registration for the Ph.D followed by course work, review of research proposals, and regular research progress appraisals.
