SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2023: The eligibility criteria is released on the official website of the SBI along with the SBI PO notification. Candidates interested in the exam should meet the eligibility criteria that require fulfilling conditions such as age limit, educational qualification, and nationality. Before filling out the application form, applicants must go through the official notification in order to ensure that they are eligible to apply for the exam.

The official notification for SBI PO 2023 is yet to be issued, and hence applicants can refer to the eligibility requirements based on the previous year's notification. The eligibility criteria is unlikely to change or get modified with the release of the new notification, any change or alternation (if applicable) will be updated in this article. 

As per the exam conducting body, the age limit for candidates must be between 21 to 30 years of age and he/she must have a bachelor’s degree to apply for SBI PO 2023 exam. Only candidates satisfying all the eligibility criteria will be eligible to appear in the preliminary, mains, and interview rounds of the SBI PO examination. SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2023

The SBI PO examination eligibility criteria are based on multiple factors. Along with the SBI PO notification, the bank releases the eligibility criteria, which are based on the following factors:

  • Age limit
  • Nationality
  • Educational Qualification

SBI PO Age Limit & Relaxation

SBI PO age limit for the candidates belonging to the general category must not be below 21 years and not above 30 years as in the year he/she appears for the exam. Relaxation in the upper age limit for different categories shall be as below:

Applicants seeking age relaxation must submit copies of requisite documents at the time of interview/joining upon qualification. Candidates cannot make any amendments to the category after registration on the website. Further, no correspondence/email/phone will be allowed in this regard.

SBI PO Important Points 

  • Candidates who have a poor history of repaying loans or credit card debt and/or for whom negative CIBIL or other external agency reports are available are ineligible 
  • Candidates who have a negative character, antecedent, and ethical misconduct reports against them are also ineligible to participate in the selection process.

SBI PO Reservations for PWD Candidates

A horizontal reservation of 4% has been provided to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as per section 34 of “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”. The post is identified as suitable for the Persons under the noted categories of disabilities as defined in the Schedule of RPWD Act 2016:

  • Locomotor Disabilities (LD)
  • Visual Impairment (VI): 
  • Hearing Impaired (HI): 
  • ‘D’ & ‘E’:

SBI PO Eligibility: Educational Qualification

The SBI PO aspirants must check the detailed eligibility criteria before filling out the application form as it has the utmost significance. Candidates applying for the post of Probationary Officer at the SBI must ensure that he/she meets the following criteria: 

  1. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognized University to be eligible for the SBI PO exam.
  2. Candidates in their final semester/year can also appear for the SBI PO exam and fill out the application form. 
  3. Final semester/year students will be required to submit the passing certificate of their degree mentioned in the application form which must be issued in the same year as the year of application. Candidates may also be asked to show their passing certificate in the interview round.
  4. Candidates who qualify as Chartered Accountants can also apply for SBI PO 2022.
  5. Candidates with an IDD (Integrated Dual Degree) must ensure the passing date is  on or before December 31, 2022.
  6. There is no minimum mark limit for candidates to be eligible for the SBI PO exam.

Note:

  • In the online application, the candidate must state their bachelor's degree percentage, calculated to the nearest two decimals. In cases where CGPA or CGPA is given, the same should be converted to a percentage and stated in the online application.
  • If selected for an interview, the candidate will need to present a certificate from the appropriate authorities attesting, among other things, to the university's rules surrounding the conversion of grades into percentages and the percentage of marks the candidate received in accordance with those rules.
  • If the result of any examination is posted on the website of the University/ Institute and a certificate is issued by the appropriate authority of the University/ Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on the website, it will be taken as the passing date.
  • This will also apply to universities where classes and grades are determined only by honours grades. The fraction of the achieved percentage will be disregarded, meaning that 54.99% and 59.99% will be treated as being below 55% and 60%, respectively.
  • The candidature will be disqualified if the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University/Institute is not as per the date mentioned by the bank in its official notification.

SBI PO Eligibility: Nationality

All the candidates applying for the SBI PO examination must adhere to the guidelines as released by the SBI. Candidates are required to fulfil the following conditions: 

  • He/She must be an Indian citizen. 
  • The subject of Nepal or Bhutan can also apply for the SBI PO examination.
  • Candidates who are Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement are also eligible to apply for the SBI PO examination.
  • Candidate of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India 

SBI PO Number of Attempts

The SBI PO examination has limited attempts and candidates cannot appear for the examination after they have exhausted the fixed number of attempts. Candidates who have already appeared for the maximum number in the SBI PO exam are not eligible to apply for the exam. Appearing in the preliminary examination of the SBI PO examination is not counted as a chance.
