Points to Remember
- The relaxation in the upper age limit to SC/ST/OBC applicants is permitted on a cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above.
- The maximum defined age limit is applicable to General Category candidates and Economically Weaker (EWS) Category Candidates.
- Candidates opting for age relaxation will be asked to submit necessary certificates like Caste / Category Certificate issued by the competent authority, in the original form plus photocopies at the time of the Interview and at any stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ Participating Bank(s).
- Candidates belonging to the OBC category but coming under the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservations. They will have to identify them in the General category while filling up the online application form.
- There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen belonging to the Officers’ Cadre.
- If an ex-serviceman registers for various vacancies before joining any civil employment, he/she can seek the benefit of reservation as an ex-serviceman for any subsequent employment.
IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2024: Educational Qualification
IBPS has specified that interested candidates must at least have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an institution that is recognized by the Government of India. If the applicant is not a degree holder, he/she should have an equivalent qualification to be eligible. It is important that the candidate’s qualification is recognized by the central government, or the candidate can be ineligible for the IBPS PO exam.
Note:
- Candidates will be asked to provide a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate to prove that he/she is a graduate the day they register for the exam.
- They will also have to indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online. CGPA has to be converted into percentages before registration. Applicants must make sure that the percentage obtained in Graduation is calculated to the nearest two decimals in the application form.
- The fraction of percentage will be ignored, that is, 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.
- Although, there are no well-built percentage eligibility criteria for banking exams.
- Proper documentation has to be submitted at the time of the IBPS PO interview from the candidate's university for having declared the result.
IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria- PwD Category 2024
Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities is mandatory based on the According to “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”. There are various categories of disabilities listed on the Schedule of the RPWD Act, and if the candidate falls in that category, he/she shall be eligible for reservation. These categories include:
- “OC” Category- Persons falling under this category are unable to perform activities associated with the movement of self and objects due to affliction of the nervous system. This includes cases of Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy, and Acid Attack Victims. Orthopedically challenged persons with locomotor disability should have OA- One arm affected (Right or Left) OL- One leg affected (Right or Left) OAL- One arm & One leg affected BL- Both legs affected but not arms.
- Hearing Impaired (“HI” Category)- Persons who are completely or partially deaf fall under this category. Candidates with hard of hearing, having 60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears are also eligible for reservation.
- Visual Impairment (“VI” Category)- Persons suffering from total absence of sight, visual acuity less than 3/60 or less than 10/200, limitation of the field of vision not exceeding 6/18 or less than 20/60 up to 3/60 or up to 10/200 are eligible for reservation.
- “ID” Category- ID stands for intellectual disability and it also includes Multiple Disabilities. Persons suffering from this can apply for a PwD reservation. This category comprises Mental Illness, Autism Spectrum disorder, Specific Learning Disability, etc.
Only those applicants with benchmark disabilities, with not less than 40% of a specified disability will be eligible candidates. The allocation of reserved vacancies will be in reference to The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and as per the vacancies reported by IBPS PO participating banks.
IBPS PO Guidelines for PwD using a Scribe
Candidates who are not capable of writing their own paper due to certain disabilities can seek a scribe, who will be eligible to write the paper on the candidate’s behalf- given that:
- Candidates have asked for Scribe Service while filling the application form with proper documentation
- Scribe has to be independently arranged by the candidate without the involvement of IBPS
- Both Scribe and the applicant will have to fill out an undertaking form to meet certain conditions that state the scribe cannot independently answer questions and help the applicant, if caught in the act, the candidate will be disqualified.
- The scribe is allowed to take an additional compensatory time of 20 minutes.
- The scribe arranged by the candidate cannot be an applicant for IBPS PO.
IBPS PO Guidelines for Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy
- Compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour will be allotted to candidates falling in this category, given that they are affected with a minimum of 40% Cerebral Palsy and Locomotor Disability.
IBPS PO Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates
- Candidates in this category can seek to view the contents of the test in magnified font
- They will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour or otherwise advised by health experts
- The facility of the magnified font will not be available for candidates taking the help of a scribe
IBPS PO Guidelines for Intellectual Disability
- Additional twenty minutes per hour of examination will be allotted to applicants in this category, irrespective of the fact whether they are seeking the services of a scribe or not.
- This shall be permitted to the candidates with more than 40% Intellectual Disability.
IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria- EWS 2024
Candidates failing to fall under SC, ST, or OBC categories, but having an annual income of fewer than 8 Lakhs Rupees fall under the Economically Weaker Section category. These candidates are entitled to a 10% reservation for the vacancies disclosed by IBPS PO participating banks. This income should be in line with all the monetary sources like business, salary, agriculture, land, etc. This income shall be from the financial year prior to the year of filling out the IBPS PO application form. Candidates who or whose families possess the following shall be excluded from this category:
- Residential plots of 200 sq. yards or above in specified areas
- Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
- Residential plots of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities
- 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above
To determine the EWS status, proper proof is required from the candidate in the form of an asset and income certificate, which should be issued by a Competent Authority. “Family” here means parents of the candidate along with spouse, siblings, and children under the age of 18 years.
