EPFO Eligibility 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the EPFO exam to recruit aspiring candidates for the position of Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, Ministry of Labour and Employment. Recently, the commission has announced 418 vacancies for the post of Enforcement Officers/Account Officers. Besides this, 159 vacancies have been released for the post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner. Nationality

A Candidate must be either:

  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 01, 1962, to permanently settle in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam intending to permanently settle in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Note: The application of a candidate for whom a certificate of eligibility is required may be taken into consideration by the Commission. If the candidate is recommended for appointment, he or she may also be appointed provisionally subject to necessary issuance of the required certificate from the Government of India.

Educational Qualification

Aspirants preparing for the CAPF exam 2023 are required to fulfil the educational criteria as mentioned in the official notification. The CAPF educational criteria are divided into two: Essential qualification and Desirable qualification. The detailed essential qualifications and desirable qualification required by the candidate is given below:

Minimum Essential Qualification

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • It should be noted that if a candidate is well qualified, the educational requirements may be relaxed at the discretion of the UPSC or other competent authority.
  • If at any stage of the selection process, the competent Authority/Union Public Service Commission accepts that an adequate number of candidates from SC/ST categories holding the required experience are not likely to fill up the vacancies reserved for them, the qualification(s) regarding experience may be relaxed at their discretion.

Note:

  • The minimum requirements are the ones listed as essential, and meeting them alone does not entitle applicants to an interview call.

Minimum Desirable Qualification

Candidates who meet the desired qualification will be preferred over those who only meet the minimum essential requirements. The desired educational requirements stated in the official EPFO notification are given below.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law/Five year Integrated degree in law

Candidates possessing MBA/PGDM degree will fulfil the desired qualification criteria

Company Secretary/Chartered Accountants/Cost and Management Accountant

  • It is desirable for candidates to have two years of administration, accounting, or legal experience in a publicly listed private or government company.

NOTE

If there are many applications, the commission will shortlist candidates by any or more of the following methods to limit the number of candidates to be interviewed:

  • If more than one DQ is required, "on the basis of Desirable Qualification (DQ) or any one or all of the DQs."
  • Based on a higher level of education than what the notification’s minimum requirements were.
  • Based on having more experience than the minimum in the relevant field.
  • By taking into account experience both before and after obtaining the essential qualification
  • By invoking experience even where there is no experience mentioned in the notification as a Desirable Qualification (DQ) or an Essential Qualification (EQ) (DQ).
  • By holding a recruitment exam.
