National Institute of Technology, Puducherry: Established in the year 2010 NIT, Puducherry is one of the ten newly formed NITs by the Government of India and is an institute of national importance offering various UG, PG, and doctorate-level courses in diverse fields and multiple specialisations. It was founded as a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of Puducherry. The National Institute of Technology, Puducherry is located in the nestled scenes of Karaikal amid the beauty of river Kaveri spread over 258 acres of lush green campus near village Poovam in Thiruvettakudy. 

The institute offers courses like B.Tech, M.tech, PhD along with B.Sc and B.Ed as its newly added courses. Admission to courses on UG, PG, and PhD level are subject to marks obtained in the national level entrance examination which is further followed by common seat allocation by regulatory authorities. To secure admission to the B.Tech course the students have to appear in the JEE main examination and register themselves for JoSAA counselling. Similarly valid GATE score is the eligibility criteria for admission across M.Tech courses, then the admission is granted based on the CCMT cut-off list. NCET (National Common Entrance Test) is valid to secure admission to the newly added B.Sc. B.Ed. course which is conducted by NTA.

In the NIRF report for the year 2023 National Institute of Technology, Puducherry secured 101-150 rank and is one of the best NIRF-ranked colleges in Puducherry popular for its B.Tech course.
