Kashmir University (UoK), formerly known as University of Kashmir (UoK) was established in 1948, is a state university located in Srinagar, India. The University holds 33 th position in India as per NIRF ranking 2023 and has an ‘A+’ accreditation by NAAC.
The university was split into two fully fledged universities in 1969: the University of Jammu in Jammu and the University of Kashmir in Srinagar.
The University's main campus, which occupies 247 acres, is split into three campuses Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus, and Mirza Bagh Campus (which is used for residential purposes).
The university encompasses 12 faculties, 47 academic departments, and 21 centers along with 45 affiliated institutes and 21 constituent colleges making it one of largest universities in the country.
The university offers a wide variety of UG, PG, diploma and certificate courses in various disciplines including BA, BBA, BSc, BA LLB, MA, MSc, MTech, BTech and many more, in addition to that university also offers the opportunities for distance learning.
Admission to Kashmir University is determined by the entrance examinations for the selected program.The majority of UG and PG courses are covered by CUET, with the university offering merit-based admissions or administering its own entrance exam called KUCET for the remaining courses.
CAT, JEE Mains, CMAT, and GPAT scores are taken into consideration for admission to a number of courses.
The university has a robust placement cell offering students placement opportunities from various fields. As per University of Kashmir placement report of NIRF 2023, around 119 UG, 346 PG, and 39 Integrated PG students were placed. UG students' median package ranged between INR 5 LPA and INR 8 LPA while PG students' median package stood at INR 7 LPA.However, a detailed placement report has not yet been released by Kashmir University.

The institute has a well equipped infrastructure, offering facilities of food, sports, library, hostels, medicals and every basic amenities required for students through cafeteria, gym, sports playground , auditoriums, libraries and laboratories.
The Campus offers a health center with kind and qualified staff to cater the medical needs of students and faculties of the whole university.
The university library has 16 divisions, in addition it has a 6 lakh book collection. The library has created a special display just for kids who are blind or visually challenged. The collection consists of different local, national, and international newspapers as well as braille books, DVDs/CDs, and DAISY-Digital talking books.
