UPTET Exam Pattern 2024: Check Paper 1, Paper 2 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

UPTET Exam Pattern 2024: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) prescribes the UPTET exam pattern Candidates can check the exam pattern at the official website - updeled.gov.in. The teacher eligibility test is conducted in two stages - Paper 1 and Paper 2. It must be noted that the exam pattern for both papers is different.  To attempt the UPTET exam, candidates must be aware of the structure of the exam, types of questions, mode of exam and marking scheme. 

The duration of the UPTET exam is 2.5 hours. Each of the two papers has 150 questions. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are conducted for 150 marks each in the pen and paper based format. The teacher eligibility test is conducted for those candidates who wish to pursue their careers in the teaching field. Along with the exam pattern, the UPTET syllabus is also released by the exam-conducting authority. 

UPTET Exam Pattern 2024

The UPTET exam pattern 2024 sheds light on the type of questions asked, number of questions, total marks, difficulty level and other information related to exam.  The exam pattern is published along with the official notification. UPTET exam pattern does not change every year. However, any changes in the pattern will be notified on this page.  UPTET exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam pattern for both papers is provided below.

UPTET Exam Pattern for Paper 1 

Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach students of primary level which includes classes 1 to 5.  Paper 1 consists of 5 sections: 

• Child Development and Pedagogy
• Language-I (Hindi)
• Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit)
• Mathematics
• Environmental Studies

Further, the duration of the exam is 2.5 hours.  Objective-type questions are asked in the exam. The questions are based on topics prescribed in the syllabus for classes 1 to 5.  Candidates can check the UPTET Paper 1 exam pattern below.. 

UPTET Paper 1 Marking Scheme

One mark is awarded for each correct answer in the UPTET exam. There is no negative marking. Take a look at marks allotted to each section in UPTET paper 1 :

UPTET Exam Pattern for Paper 2 

The UPTET exam pattern for paper 2 is also conducted for a duration of 2.5 hours. The questions will be asked in the MCQ format. The language of the exam can be either English or Hindi. The questions are based on the topics prescribed in the syllabus for classes 6 to 8.  

UPTET paper 2 covers 4 sections which are :

• Child Development and Pedagogy
• Language-I (Hindi)
• Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit)
• Mathematics and Science or Social Studies

Note: One mark is awarded for each correct response. There is no negative marking in the exam.

UPTET Marking Scheme 2024

For the teacher eligibility test, aspirants get four choices for every question.  The questions will be asked in MCQ format and candidates must select one correct answer among the four options. Candidates will be awarded with one mark for each correct answer, whereas no marks will be deducted for any incorrect answer.  The exam does not have any negative marking.

In order to qualify for the teacher eligibility test, candidates are required to score the minimum qualifying mark prescribed by the Exam Regulatory Authority, Uttar Pradesh.  Candidates must note that the cut-off marks are different for all categories.
