UPTET Exam Pattern 2026: Check Paper 1, Paper 2 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

UPTET Exam Pattern 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) released the UPTET Exam Pattern 2026 along with the official notification on March 20, 2026. Candidates can check the complete exam pattern on the official website of the authority - updeled.gov.in. The exam is conducted in two parts: Paper 1 and Paper 2, and both have different patterns. The UPTET Exam 2026 will be conducted on July 2, 3, and 4, 2026.

To prepare well, candidates should understand the structure of the exam, the type of questions asked, the mode of examination, and the marking scheme. The duration of each paper is 2.5 hours, and each paper consists of 150 questions for a total of 150 marks. The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper). UPTET is conducted for candidates who wish to become teachers in the schools affiliated to the UP Board. Along with the exam pattern, the syllabus has also been released by the exam authority.

UPTET Exam Pattern 2026: Detailed Structure for Paper 1 

Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach students at the primary level, which includes classes 1 to 5. The UPTET Paper 1 consists of the following 5 sections: 

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
  • Language-I (Hindi)
  • Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit)
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies

UPTET Exam Pattern 2026: Detailed Structure for Paper 2

The UPTET Exam for paper 2 is also conducted for a total duration of 2.5 hours. The questions will be asked in the MCQ format. The language of the exam can be either English or Hindi. The questions are based on the topics prescribed in the syllabus for classes 6 to 8.

UPTET 2026 Exam Pattern: Marking Scheme

For the teacher eligibility test, aspirants get four choices for every question. The questions will be asked in MCQ format, and candidates must select one correct answer among the four options. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer, whereas no marks will be deducted for any incorrect answer, i.e. the exam does not have any negative marking. 

In order to qualify for the teacher eligibility test, candidates are required to score the minimum qualifying mark prescribed by the Exam Regulatory Authority, Uttar Pradesh.
