TSPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern 2024: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) conducts the Group 1 examination to recruit candidates for various public service positions in the state of Telangana. The group 1 exams are conducted for grade A job posts such as Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Mandal Parishad Development Officer amongst others. TSPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern 2024

  • Earlier there were 3 rounds in the selection process- now, applicants will only need to attempt Prelims and Mains which are the two rounds of the TSPSC Group 1 selection process.
  • The Prelims exam will be objective in nature and will only have a single paper called General Studies & Mental Ability.
  • Consequently, the Mains exam will be vast with a total of 6 papers divided between compulsory and optional papers.
  • The final recruitment will be based on the student’s performance in the Mains round. The Preliminary exam will be a qualifying paper as only those who clear it will be eligible for TSPSC Mains.
  • After the conclusion of the Mains round, a merit list will be issued based on the performance of registered students.
  • The score of the Mains General English paper will not be added to the merit list.

TSPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern 2024: Prelims

The TSPSC Group 1 exam follows a two-tiered selection process, starting with the Preliminary Examination. This is the first round of the selection process and serves as a screening test consisting of objective-type questions. The key details of the Preliminary Examination are as follows:

  • TSPSC Group 1 Prelims will only have a single paper worth 150 marks
  • Applicants will be given 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the paper
  • A negative marking of one-third of a mark will be assigned for each wrong answer
  • This round will be conducted in English, Telugu, and Urdu
  • The prelims round will be Objective in nature
  • Further, this round will be conducted to select students for the Mains round. The scored marks in Prelims will not be used in the final merit list

Candidates who clear the Prelims exam move on to the Mains examination. It is a written paper that tests the candidates' in-depth knowledge and understanding of various subjects. The Main Examination comprises six papers, divided into two categories: Compulsory and Optional. Further, this round will also have a General English paper that will be qualifying in nature.   • The Mains exam will include six descriptive papers along with a qualifying General English paper
  • Each paper will be 3 hours long
  • This round will also be conducted in English, Telugu, and Urdu
  • The TSPSC Group 1 Mains Exam does not have negative marking, in contrast to the Prelims Exam
  • The Mains exam will be divided between compulsory and optional papers
