NVS Eligibility 2023: Check Age Limit, Educational Qualification, Nationality for TGT, PGT Exams

NVS Eligibility Criteria: NVS or better known as Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is responsible for releasing the eligibility criteria for candidates appearing in the TGT or PGT examination. The eligibility criteria for any of the exams are released along with the official notification. Candidates who are willing to appear for the examination are first required to check their eligibility criteria whether they are eligible to appear for the exam or not and if yes, then they can fill the application form.

There are several factors that set the eligibility criteria including the age limit, nationality of candidates and educational qualification. Candidates must check all three aspects before filling the application form. Once the candidate fulfils the eligibility criteria laid by the exam conducting body, then the candidate can fill the application form for which the process is done online. Further, candidates who will successfully fill the application form will be then eligible to get their NVS TGT, PGT admit card. 

Since the NVS TGT, PGT are different exams, candidates should know that the education body releases separate eligibility criteria for all the posts. Hence, candidates should check the details of eligibility for the post for which they have filled the application form. NVS TGT, PGT exam is a national level exam and takes place once a year. 

NVS Eligibility Criteria 

Several factors such as age limit and relaxation, educational qualification, nationality of the candidate and others are included in the NVS eligibility factor. Candidates must fulfil those conditions to be eligible to appear for the examination. In order to check eligibility for a specific post, candidates have to look for the official notification. 

The NVS official notification is a compilation of all the necessary information for the exam. From the syllabus to eligibility criteria to exam dates, the official notification PDF contains all the details. Hence, it is advisable for all candidates to check the official notification first. Meanwhile, the NVS is yet to release the official notification regarding the NVS TGT, PGT 2023 exams. 

NVS TGT Eligibility Criteria 

The NVS TGT, PGT exams are different in nature hence the eligibility criteria for both exams are completely different from one another. Candidates take a look at the following eligibility criteria laid out by the exam conducting body for the TGT exam. 

NVS TGT Eligibility Criteria for Age Limit 

While the education body has not mentioned any minimum age limit for candidates to appear for the examination, the maximum age limit is set as 35 years. 

Further, NVS has issued age limit relaxation for different categories. Candidates can take a look at the given table to have an idea about the upper age limit relaxation. 

Nationality 

Candidates who are Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the TGT examination. 

Educational Qualification 

Another important eligibility factor for the TGT exam is educational qualification. Candidates can take a look at the following prescribed educational qualifications which a candidate is required to complete in order to apply for the examination. 

• Candidates are required to complete 4 years of an integrated course from NCTE recognised regional college of education of NCERT with a minimum of 50 % marks in the aggregate as well as concerned subjects. 

OR

• Candidates should have their Bachelor's Honours Degree with minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate as well as in every concerned subject. Applicants for the three-year degree programme should have completed at least two years of study in the required courses.

OR 

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 50 % marks aggregate and even in the concerned subject. Applicants should have completed all three years of their degree programme in the required courses.

AND 

• Further candidates appearing for the examination are required to clear the CTET exam which is conducted by the CBSE. 
• Candidate must have completed their B.Ed degree (Does not apply on the 4-year integrated course)
• Candidates should know how to teach in Hindi and English language. 

Number of Attempts 

Candidates can appear for the TGT exam till the time they reach the age limit of 35 years. 

NVS PGT Eligibility Criteria 

NVS PGT eligibility criteria are different compared to the TGT exam. Candidates can take a look at the following factors for eligibility criteria for the PGT exam. 

Age Limit 

The education body has set the upper age limit for the candidates appearing in the PGT exam. As per the NVS, a candidate must be 40 years old on the prescribed date to apply for the examination. Further, the education body has also set an age relaxation for the upper age limit for candidates belonging to different categories.

Educational Qualification

Another important factor in the PGT eligibility criteria is educational qualification. Candidates can take a look at the following educational qualification criteria for the PGT exam. 

• Candidate must complete the 2-year integrated PG course by an NCTE-recognised regional college of education of NCERT and are required to score at least 50 % marks in aggregate 
• Candidates should have a B.Ed degree 
• Aspirants must have proficiency in teaching in both mediums Hindi and English 
• If the candidate has either of the given qualifications, then he or she is not required to have a B.Ed degree. 
• completed a four-year integrated degree programme at any NCTE-recognized college or institution, such as the Regional College of Education of NCERT.
• A master's degree in one of the above fields from an accredited university with a minimum of 50%

Nationality

Candidates must be Indian citizens in order to be eligible to appear for PGT examination. Aspirants have to give proof of their citizenship during the time of verification.
