M.Sc. in Chemistry

M.Sc. in Chemistry is a two year master's programme offered by the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University. The minimum eligibility for the course is a bachelor's degree in science from a recognized university. The main highlights of the programme are given below.

Candidates who have passed BSc Hons in Chemistry from Department of Chemistry, Panjab University are directly admitted to the MSc Chemistry course at the university. They need not appear for the PUCET-PG or require to fulfill the minimum eligibility mentioned below. They are also not included in the seat offered mentioned below.

  • Candidates willing to apply for M.Sc. in Chemistry should have a valid score in PU CET-PG, an entrance exam conducted by the University.
  • Candidates must also have a B.Sc./B.Sc. Hons. in Chemistry/ B.Sc. Hons. in any science subject with 24 credits in Chemistry as an elective subject
  • They must have Chemistry as a subject in all three years of graduation or any two science subjects in two years of graduation. 
  • They should have scored at least 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying degree. There are some exemptions for the SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories of applicants.
  • In the selection process, 60% weightage is given to the PU CET UG scores and the rest 40% to the academic records.
  • The M.Sc. in Chemistry admission is provided for 18 seats. Out of this, 2 seats are reserved for NRIs and 1 for foreign nationals.

  • Candidates with B.Sc. Hons. in Chemistry, PU need not appear for the PUCET-PG or the eligibility criteria mentioned above. They are directly admitted for the course.
Other Eligibility

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC/PwD category must have minimum 45% marks in the qualifying degree.
