WBPSC Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age Limit

The WBPSC age limit is a crucial part of the eligibility criteria. The age requirements differ according to the group, position, and category the applicant falls under. However, the average age range for the WBPSC exam is 21 to 36 years. Further, applicants from reserved groups, such as those belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD), are granted some age relaxation benefits.   • For Group A and C job posts, candidates must be not below 21 years but not more than 36 (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January 1987 and not later than the 1st January 2002)
  • For Group B job posts,  candidates must be of age not below 20 years but not more than 36 which means born not earlier than 2nd January 1987 and not later than the 1st January 2003
  • Similarly, for Group D job posts,  the age of students should not be below 21 years and not more than 39 years- born not earlier than the 2nd of January 1984 and not later than the 1st of January 2002
  • Those students whose date of birth lies between the 1st January 2002 & the 1st January 2003 may only apply for Group B only
  • Whether a candidate is employed by the government or not, the age restrictions will still apply to them

WBPSC Eligibility Criteria 2023: Qualification

Educational qualifications are a mandatory set requirement by the WBPSC. Depending on the group and position, these requirements may vary. To be eligible for the majority of WBPSC exams, candidates usually require a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution. The educational requirements for some jobs, however, could be higher, like a master's degree or a specialisation in a particular field. Candidates must be willing to operate in rural locations, and their area of responsibility will include many villages.

West Bengal Junior Social Welfare Service

An essential qualification is a degree, diploma, or certificate in the training of the blind, deaf, and/or dumb.

West Bengal Subordinate Land Revenue Service, Grade – I

Candidates shall not be appointed to the service unless they acquire an adequate working knowledge of the Bengali language, written and spoken 

Shall be appointed provisionally and complete a six-month in-service training period, during which they will receive the starting pay and allowances under the applicable scale.

WBPSC Eligibility 2023: PwD Category

  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities who have writing restrictions, especially those related to speed, may be given access to a scribe if necessary.
  • If a person with a Benchmark Disability chooses to use their own scribe, they must provide the necessary information using the proforma provided by the Commission at the time of the exam. 
  • the Chief Medical Officer/Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution must certify that the person in question has a physical disability that makes it necessary for the scribe to write the examination on his behalf.
  • Applicable candidates having limitations in writing will be allotted compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour.
