DRDO Recruitment 2023: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducts the recruitment process for various posts for eligible candidates aspiring for a career at DRDO. DRDO is currently inviting applications for apprentice and Scientist ‘B’ positions for aspirants with the prerequisite educational qualifications. In addition to this, DRDO conducts the CEPTAM exam for recruitment to Technical Cadre and Admin&Allied Cadre.
DRDO recruitment applications are open for 181 vacancies for the post of Scientist ‘B’ and 62 vacancies for the post of apprentice. Candidates applying for the Scientist ‘B’ position need the required first class bachelor’s degree in engineering or science and a valid GATE score in their respective discipline to be eligible to apply for the post. The selection process for the DRDO apprenticeship will be based on academic merit, written test, or interview, as per the requirements of DRDO. The candidates for Scientist ‘B’ positions will be selected on the basis of their GATE scores and performance in Personal interview. - DRDO conducts the CEPTAM (Centre for Personnel Talent Management) examination for recruitment to DRTC (Technical Cadre) and Administrative & Allied (A&A) category positions.
- The Technical cadre consists of posts such as Senior Technical Assistant- B (SAT-B) and Technician-A (Tech-A).
- The A&A positions include Junior Translation Officer, Stenographer, Administrative Assistant, Store Assistant, Security Assistant, Vehicle Operator, Fire Engine Driver and Fireman.
- The CEPTAM DRTC examination includes two phases, which are Tier 1 examination for screening and Tier 2 examination for final selection. For the STA-B post, the Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams are conducted as Computer-Based Tests (CBT) and consist of multiple choice questions. For the Tech-A post, Tier 1 exam(for provisional selection) will be CBT and Tier 2 exam will be a trade test (for final selection).

DRDO Scientist ‘B’ Recruitment 2023
DRDO has released the recruitment notification for Scientist ‘B’ positions on its official website. Candidates can apply for the Scientist ‘B’ post by visiting the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) official website and filling out the online application form. DRDO Scientist ‘B’ Selection Process
- The selection of the candidates for the DRDO Scientist ‘B’ posts will take place on the basis of the GATE score and personal interview.
- The weightage of the GATE score in the selection process is 80% whereas the personal interview has a weightage of 20%.
- Only those candidates who secure 70% ( for General category) and 60% (for EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwD) in the Personal Interview round will be considered for the final merit list.
- Candidates who have not obtained the minimum percentage in Personal interview will not be considered for the final merit list, irrespective of their GATE scores.
DRDO Scientist ‘B’ Salary
The remuneration for the Scientist ‘B’ position at DRDO is INR 56,100 in level 10 of the 7th CPC pay matrix. The total salary which includes house rent allowance(HRA) and other allowances is INR 1,00,000 per month at the present metro city rate.

DRDO Apprentice Eligibility Norms
- Candidates who have completed the following qualifications in the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 are eligible to apply for the DRDO apprenticeship position :
- B.Tech/B.E.
- Diploma
- ITI
- Those who have postgraduate qualifications are not eligible to apply for the position.
- Candidates who have already undergone Apprenticeship Training or are currently going through apprenticeship training are not eligible to apply for the position.
- Candidates need to be at least 18 years of age on the last date of the application.
- If a candidate has more than one-year of work experience, they are not eligible to apply for the position.
