IIT Patna Courses: Eligibility, Seats, Fees, Placement and Selection Criteria

IIT Patna, commonly known as the second generation IIT, was established in 2008 with 3 B.Tech. programs namely Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 120. Currently, there are three more engineering departments - Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental and Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. Other than engineering 3 basic sciences departments (Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics), and Humanities & Social Science (HSS) department also offer courses at UG, PG and PhD level. These academic departments are actively working for quality teaching and research creating a place of its own in the academic arena nationally and internationally.

Currently, IIT Patna offers B.Tech programs in 11 disciplines. Admission to the undergraduate engineering program is based on the merit in the JEE Advanced exam. M.Tech and M.Sc. programmes are offered at the master’s level. Admission to the M.Tech programme is based on the GATE scores while MSc admissions are through IIT-JAM.
