Ph.D. in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
IIT Bhilai offers PhD programmes in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Candidates willing to apply for the doctoral programme must have completed a 2 year master’s degree in the relevant subject from a recognized institution. The highlights of the course are given below:
- Candidates applying for the Ph.D. programme at IIT Bhilai must have a valid score in GATE examination or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR/DAE or DST INSPIRE Fellowship.
- They must have also passed M.E./ M.Tech degree in relevant discipline from a recognised institute/university.
- They must have scored minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale in the qualifying degree.
- Candidates with BTech from IITs with at least 8.0 CGPA or MSc with minimum 60% marks are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates with minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience can apply without a GATE score.
- Admission to the course is based on the entrance test and interview conducted by the department.
- The tuition fee for the PhD at IIT Bhilai is INR 2,500 per semester.

The total fee for Ph.D. program at IIT Bhilai is INR 69,875 for the first semester. This fee includes tuition fee, semester charges, one time admission fee and the deposits. The components of the total fees are as follows. - Candidates with minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience can apply without a GATE score.
Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD categories must have 55% marks in the qualifying degree.
