CAPF Exam 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the CAPF exam every year to recruit aspiring candidates for the position of Assistant Commandant in armed police forces such as the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).  Candidates preparing for the exam must be aware of the CAPF Exam Pattern & Syllabus.

CAPF Notification 2025

The CAPF notification for 2025 session will be released on March 5 at upsc.gov.in. The notification contains details regarding the eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, and vacancy. Aspirants preparing for the CAPF exam must read the notification carefully to get acquainted with changes made in the exam, if any.

CAPF Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates who want to become Assistant Commandants in the Central Armed Forces, such as the BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, and ITBP, must meet the prescribed eligibility requirements, as mandated by the commission. The detailed eligibility criteria is outlined below:

Nationality

The applicant for the UPSC CAPF exam must be an Indian national. In addition to Indian citizens, applicants who meet the following citizenship requirements may also apply for the exam:

• Bhutanese and Nepalese citizens are also eligible for this exam.
• The Armed Police Forces will not appoint or hire applicants of other nationalities unless the Central Government of India has given its written approval first.

Age Limit

Candidates for the CAPF exam must be at least 20 years old and under 25 years old as of the date specified in the notification for that particular year. But students who fall into specific categories will have the upper age limit relaxed. The relaxation of the upper age limit is listed below:

• Candidates from Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes are eligible for age relaxation of up to five years.
• Candidates from Other Backward Classes are only eligible for a three-year reservation period.
• According to current Central Government directives, civil central government employees will receive a relaxation for a maximum of five years. Ex-servicemen will also be subject to this relaxation. Additionally, total relaxation is only available for five years of government service.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates who are preparing for the exam must meet the educational requirements for the CAPF exam. The following are included in the CAPF education requirements:

• All applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• The bachelor's degree needs to have come from a recognized university or institution.
• The CAPF Exam is open to applicants who took the qualifying exam but have not yet received their results. However, it should be noted that admission will only be provisional until the applicant can provide documentation of passing the exam after passing the CAPF entrance exam.
• The CAPF AC exam is also open to candidates with professional and technical qualifications the government considers equivalent to a professional and technical degree.

CAPF Vacancy 2025

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releases CAPF vacancies along with the official notification. The commission has the authority to alter the announced vacancies at any time during the CAPF selection process. A separate list of CAPF vacancies for the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB will be listed in the notification. The CAPF vacancy list for 2025 session is yet to be released.

CAPF Application Form 2025

How to Apply for the CAPF Exam 2025?

• Visit the UPSC official website.
• Go to the home page and click on the Apply Online link.
• The application form will open in a new tab.
• Fill out correct information in the application form.
• Upload a photo and a signature scanned image in accordance with the specifications.
• Submit the application fee
• Pay the application fee
• Don't forget to print the application form out for future reference.

CAPF Result 2025

UPSC announces CAPF result after each phase of the selection process. The CAPF selection process includes the written examination, physical/medical test, and the interview round. 

CAPF Written Exam Result: The written exam result is released after the successful conclusion of the exam. The CAPF result PDF is released on the official website containing the roll number and names of the candidates.

CAPF PET/PST Result: Once the candidate is selected in the written exam, he/she will be called for the physical/medical examination. The result for the same is announced by UPSC on its official website. It contains the names of candidates who meet the required physical/medical conditions.

CAPF Final Result: The final round is the interview round in the CAPF selection process. The result is announced in the form of a PDF containing the names of recommended candidates. UPSC also announces the CAPF cutoff scores in the form of marks obtained by the last recommended candidate.

Candidates can only clear the Assistant Commandant exam by comprehensive CAPF preparation. The preparation requires correct knowledge of exam pattern, syllabus, and books. Aspirants must ensure they study the right books and solve lots of CAPF previous years’ to ace the exam. Some of the preparation tips are listed below:

CAPF Selection Process 2025

The CAPF selection process consists of three phases: (i) Written Examination, (ii) Physical/Medical Examination, (iii) Interview Round. Only if candidates pass the first phase will they be called for the subsequent ones.

Candidates selected in the written examination are also required to fill up the CAPF DAF Form. Candidates must register on the UPSC website and upload the required scanned copies of their documentation in order to complete the DAF. If a candidate is chosen for the interview or personality test, UPSC also requests that they complete the DAF once more.
