The PhD programme at IIT Delhi is offered in 31 disciplines based on GATE/CSIR/UGC NET/ICAR/ICMR/DST-INSPIRE score. The key highlights for IIT Delhi PhD admissions are as follows: 

Eligibility

  • Students must have a valid GATE/CSIR/UGC NET/ICAR/ICMR/DST-INSPIRE score
  • Each department conducts personal interviews for the for the shortlisted candidates
  • The qualifying degree is M.Tech/ M.E./ M.D./ M.Des/MSc./MBA/MA/MBBS with 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA
  • Candidates with B.E./BTech who have 70% marks or 7.0 CGPA or more can also apply
  • Final admission will be offered based on the personal interviews.

Fees

  • The tuition fee for the PhD program at IIT Delhi is INR 7,500 per semester.
  • Candidates from SC/ST/PWD categories are exempted from the tuition fee.

The PhD program fees in IIT Delhi for the year 2024-25 is INR 29,900 per semester. This fee is inclusive of all one time payments, tuition fee and other charges. The various other components of IIT Delhi PhD fees are as follows: 

Tuition fee: INR 7500 per semester

Other Charges: INR 22400

Total Amount: (Tuition fee + Other Charges) = INR 29,900

Other charges include one time charges at the time of admission in addition to per semester charges.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are willing to apply for PhD admissions at IIT Delhi should have a M.Tech/M.E./M.D./M.Des with 60 percent marks or 6.0 CGPA. The department will conduct a personal interview for admission to the doctoral program.

Candidates with MSc./MBA/MA/MBBS degree need to have a valid score in national level examinations like GATE/CSIR/UGC NET/ICAR/ICMR/DST-INSPIRE fellowship. They should have at least 60 percent of marks in the qualifying examination.

Candidates who have completed their B.E./ BTech from IITs with 7.0 or more CGPA can also apply for the PhD. They should have a valid score in a national level examination.

Other Eligibility

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD must have scored 55% marks in M.Tech/ M.E./ M.D./ M.Des/MSc./MBA/MA/MBBS and 65% in B.E./ BTech.
