PhD (Science)
The IIT Indore offers PhD (Science) programmes in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics departments of the institute. The minimum qualification required for the PhD admissions in science is a master's degree in the relevant department of science with first division as defined by the awarding institute. The eligibility criteria and the fees for the PhD programme is given below.
Eligibility:
- Candidates applying for PHD in Science should be qualified in a national level test, such as GATE / UGC-NET / CSIR-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or equivalent or holding a national level fellowship
- They should also have a masters degree in the relevant department of science with first division as defined by the awarding institute
- Candidates with master’s inengineering and technology with valid GATE score are also eligible to apply for the doctoral programme
- Candidates with 4 year bachelor’s degree or five year integrated degree in the engineering or technology and valid GATE qualification can also apply for the PhD admissions.
Fees:
- The tuition fee for the Ph.D program at the IIT Indore is INR 5,000 per semester.
- Candidates from SC/ST/PWD categories are exempted from the tuition fee.

The fees for the PhD program at IIT Indore is INR 27,465 per semester. Candidates must note that this fee does not include one time payments and the security deposits to be paid at the time of the admission for the doctoral programme in management. However, the hostel charges are included in it. The components of IIT Indore PhD fees are given below.

Candidates willing to apply for the PhD admissions in science subjects at IIT Indore must have a masters degree in relevant discipline of science. They must have first division in the qualifying degree. A two year masters or a four year BTech programme in engineering or technology are also accepted as a qualifying degrees.
Candidates are also required to qualify national level exams like GATE / CEED / JEST / UGC-NET / CSIR-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or equivalent or holding a national level fellowship.
Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD category must have secured at least 55 percent marks or 5.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale in the qualifying degree for the PhD Admissions at IIT Indore.
