APPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024: Candidates who wish to appear for the APPSC Group 1 exam are first advised to check the eligibility factor. The eligibility for the exam is prescribed by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on the official website. There are several factors that determine the eligibility for APPSC Group 1 exam including nationalism, age limit and physical standards. Hence, candidates preparing for the APPSC exam must go through the detailed eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.  

APPSC exam is conducted in three phases. Those who have cleared the prelims exam will then be eligible to appear on the Main exam. Further, candidates who will clear the Main exam, will be able to appear for the interview.  If a candidate completes all the eligibility factors, then he or she will be eligible to appear for the examination.

Candidates who wish to become  Deputy Superintendent of Jails,  Deputy Collectors, Assistant Commissioner,  District Fire Officers, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Regional Transport Officers, or Assistant Treasury Officers, are advised to go through the  APPSC Group 1 eligibility criteria before applying for the examination.  The last date to fill the APPSC application form for group 1 is January 21, 2024.

APPSC Eligibility Criteria Based on Nationality 

  • Candidates who are Indian nationals will be eligible to appear for the examination. However, those candidates who belong from Jammy and Kashmir state should be permanent residents of the state. 
  • Candidates who belong to the Andhra Pradesh Domicile will also be eligible to appear for the examination.

  • For posts numbered: 1, 2, 06, 7, and 9 to 19:  Candidates should belong to the age group of 18 years and 42 years.
  • For posts numbered 03 and 04: Candidates who are interested in these posts, should  be between the age group of 21 years and 28 years

APPSC Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification 

For candidates who wish to apply for the posts of  District Fire Officer, Asst Treasury Officer/Asst Accounts Officer, and District Social Welfare Officer the specific educational qualifications are given below : 

  • Candidates should have completed their degree in Engineering (Fire) from a renowned university in India or any other equivalent qualification 
  • A degree in commerce, economics, or mathematics from a university approved by the UGC, or any other credentials that are equivalent 
  • Candidates should have completed their Bachelor’s Degree from a renowned college or university under the Central Act or a State Act recognized by UGC
  • The selection process will favour those with social work or sociology degrees.

APPSC Eligibility Based on Physical Standards 

Candidates who are interested in applying for the position of DySP, District Fire Officer, or Jail Superintendent are required to have some specific physical criteria in order to be eligible to get recruited for these posts.

  • Male candidates who are in the general category should have a height of 167.6 cm and a minimum of 86.3 cm round on the chest on full expansion. 
  • For candidates belonging to the ST category should be at least 164 cm height and a minimum of 86,8 cm round on the chest on full expansion 
  • On the other hand, female candidates belonging to the general category should have a height of 152.5 cm and a minimum of 86.3 cm round on the Chest on full expansion. 
  • The visual activity of the candidate will be tested by two tests - one will be the distance vision test and the other one will be the near vision test.
