The National Institute of Technology, Patna (NIT Patna), formerly known as Bihar School of Engineering and Bihar College of Engineering, is a public technical university in Patna, Bihar. Established in 1886, NIT Patna has secured the 56th position in the engineering category as per the NIRF Ranking 2023. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral admission in engineering, architecture, basic science, humanities, social sciences, etc. 

The B.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) are the two most popular programs offered at NIT Patna. NIT Patna B.Tech admission mandates a Higher Secondary Certificate degree (10+2) with a minimum of 75% marks in PCM. NIT Patna B.Arch admission is based on candidates' performance on the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) exam. Seat allotment is done through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process, which takes into account candidates' JEE Main ranks, previous academic records, and other factors.

NIT Patna admission in two-year master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Information Technology, etc mandates an HSC (10+2) degree with 60% marks. Candidates must also take the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) test and achieve a good rank. The Centralized Counseling for M.Tech. (CCMT) counseling process is then used to assign seats. NIT Patna M.Sc. Admission 2024

NIT Patna offers a two-year master’s degree in basic sciences like Physics, Chemistry, etc. To be admitted to the Master of Science (MSc) program in Physics at NIT Patna, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree along with the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) exam score card. • Entrance exam: Candidates must qualify for NIT Patna's entrance exam. However, candidates who have alerady qualified for the GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET exams are exempted from the entrance exam.
• Personal interview: All candidates must appear for a personal interview.
