Andhra University: Admission, Courses, Fees, Ranking, Placement

Andhra University is a public state university located in the city of Visakhapatnam. It was established 96 years ago in 1926 by the Madras Act of 1926. The University is located on a 422 acre campus with 324 staff residential units and 121 academic, administrative, and assistance buildings with a plinth area of about 20 lakh square feet. Currently, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Vizinagaram, and Srikakulam are the five green districts of Andhra Pradesh that the university serves for educational needs.

The 365 affiliated colleges that fall within Andhra University's territorial purview are dispersed throughout five districts. About one lakh students attend Affiliated Colleges. Presently, the university has five constituent colleges and four AU campuses. The motto of the university is Tejasvi nāvadhītamastu, which means "May the Divine Light illuminate our studies." The university is affiliated with UGC and has Grade "A" accreditation from NAAC. According to NIRF Ranking 2023, the college is ranked #43 in the university category and #76 overall.

At Andhra University, there are 313 undergraduate, graduate, and diploma programmes offered including 42 postgraduate programmes. The Andhra University Engineering Entrance Test (AU EET) is used to determine admission to all engineering programmes. The institute also administers the Ed CET and AUCET entrance exam for admission to other UG & PG programmes, respectively. The university also offers most of the UG & PG programmes through distance learning mode as well.

Andhra University is a state university which offers its programmes at subsidized fees. Candidates accepted into the programme must pay admission fees of INR 3.45 lakh for the 4-year B.Tech programme and INR 1.5 lakh for the 2-year MBA programme. The fee for other UG and PG programmes is also quite affordable. Depending on the amenities provided by affiliated colleges, the tuition fee may vary.

Andhra University Visakhapatnam has a dedicated placement cell on its main campus that works for successfully conducting placement drives every year. Andhra University College of Engineering witnessed record 95% placement during the Andhra University placement 2022. The highest package offered to any B.Tech student was INR 15 LPA for 2021-22 batch. Aside from this, over 100 students were placed as a result of the university's placement drive for pharmacy and chemistry students.

The university has export faculty that are well-known for their contributions to scientific research. The University employs 354 Professors, 198 Associate Professors, and 115 Assistant Professors. The Institute frequently hosts science events at national and international level. The University employs more than 2500 support personnel.

Andhra University Location

Andhra University is located in Visakhapatnam, the port city of Andhra Pradesh, India. The university is located on the outskirts of town, a few kilometers away. With a distance of 13.7 kilometers, Visakhapatnam International Airport is the closest airport to the institution. The railway station in Visakhapatnam is about 5.1 kilometers from the university campus. Once students arrive at Visakhapatnam airport or railway station, they can book a cab or taxi to the university.

Andhra University Admission

Andhra University admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses is done on the basis of entrance examinations conducted by the university. Candidates seeking admission to their preferred course are required to participate in the admission process including written examination and personal interview (if existing). The course-wise detailed admission process for various UG & PG courses is as follows:

Andhra University B.Tech Admission

• Candidates seeking admission to the B.Tech program at Andhra University are done on the basis of the AUEET examination conducted by the university.
• Following the entrance examination, the university will release the merit list based on which students will be called for the document verification and submission of fees.

Note: Andhra University BCA admission and B.Pharma admission is also done on the basis of AUEET examination.

Andhra University UG Admission

• Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate courses like BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA are required to appear for the state-level AP EDCET examination.
• Based on the marks obtained by candidates in the entrance examination, colleges affiliated to Andhra University releases the merit list.
• Shortlisted candidates are then called for the document verification and submission of fees.

Andhra University PG Admission

• Candidates seeking admission to postgraduate courses like MA, M.Sc, M.Com at Andhra University must appear for the AUCET entrance examination.
• Following the conclusion of the exam, the university releases the merit list based on which final admission is granted to students.

Andhra University M.Tech/M.Pharma Admission

• Appear for the AUEET examinations and obtain a valid score.
• The merit list is released by the university after the conclusion of the exam.
• The candidates having their names on the merit list will be called document verification and other admission formalities.

Andhra University MBA Admission

• Appear for the AP ICET entrance examination and obtain a valid score
• The university will release the merit list based on which selected candidates are called for the personal interview round.
• Following the PI round, the university releases the final merit list.
• Shortlisted candidates are then called for document verification and submission of fees.

Note: Candidates having a valid score of CAT/CMAT are not required to appear for APICET examination. Andhra University MCA admission is also done on the basis of AP ICET entrance examination.

Andhra University BBA-MBA Admission

• Appear for the AUSIB examination and obtain a valid score
• The university will release the cutoff based on which selected candidates will be called for group discussion and personal interview round.
• Following GD/PI, the university will release the seat allocation list.
• Shortlisted candidates can then submit their fees and confirm their admission.

Andhra University PhD Admission

• Candidates seeking admission to the M.Phil/PhD program are required to appear for the AURCET/APRCET examination. 
• Based on marks obtained by candidates in the examination, they will be called for the Personal Interview round.
• The university will release the final selection list after the PI round.
• Subsequently, the students can submit their fees and confirm their admission to the PhD program.

Andhra University Placement

Andhra University placement cell is responsible for conducting the placement drive at the university campus every year. Candidates pursuing their degree at the university are given pre-placement training and mock interviews to increase their chances of getting hired by reputed companies that visit the university. Andhra University Facilities & Infrastructure

Hostel Facilities: The university campus has 10 hostels solely for women with a capacity of more than 2000 seats, 23 hostels for men with a capacity of more than 3200 students, and more. Two hostels were built specifically for international students. 

Medical centres: Andhra University campus has both allopathic and homeopathic medical centres. A doctor is always available at both centres to give first aid to students in case of a medical emergency.

Library: The University Library, formally known as the Dr. V.S. Krishna Library is one of the largest in the country, with around 400,000 books. Many national and international periodicals in various fields are subscribed to by the library. For the use of the pupils, there is a Reading Room adjacent to the Library. The Reading Room and Textbook Section are open 24*7.

Games & Sports: The campus has two playgrounds, the Silver Jubilee Playground and the Golden Jubilee Playground. In addition, there is also a Gym to promote physical fitness among students.

Cyber Laboratory: As a support service facility, the university campus contains a cyber laboratory for students and employees. Anyone on the campus can make use of it after becoming a member of the laboratory.
