Candidates with the highest CAT exam 2023 score will be shortlisted for the group discussion, PI, and WAT rounds. Other eligibility factors including undergraduate degree score, performance in high school, and work experience are a plus point in IIM selection.

- Candidates from general category must have a minimum aggregate score of 50% in their respective undergraduate degrees.
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories including SC/ST/OBC must have a minimum aggregate score of 45% to be eligible.
- If the candidates have not completed their undergraduate degree, they must at least be appearing in the final examination in the same year as appearing in the CAT exam
- Only those candidates will receive the interview call who meet the assigned cut off for CAT and successfully clear the GD and PI rounds

IIM Admissions 2024: GD-PI Process
After the release of cut off lists for CAT 2023, the eligible candidates will move forward with the group discussion and personal interview rounds. These rounds are designed to screen the most eligible candidates among the thousands of applicants.
The group discussion will take place among a set group of CAT aspirants with a number of IIM officials assessing them. The candidates who are successful in clearing the GD will be shortlisted for the personal interview.

- Work on your listening skills. Since it’s a group discussion, the panel will closely observe your listening skills and ability to respond to the speaker
- Have a clear mindset about each opinion you put forward. If you are not clear with your points, you will come across as an under confident candidate
- Start reading editorials and newspapers regularly for a good command on your language and knowledge

Candidates qualifying in the GD will then move forward for the personal interview round. Here is how to perform well in the interview:
- Dress formally for the interview
- Introduce yourself in a brief and crisp manner
- Speak about your education and career experience. Talk about your family background only if the interviewer asks about it
- Remember to keep your answers short and to the point
- The interviewers don’t like when a candidate tries too hard to appear overconfident. Don’t talk about anything which is not relevant to the interview
- Smile and try to appear as confident and calm as possible
