Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore: TNAU is a public university located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The university came into existence in the year 1971 with the vision of promoting science-based agriculture in Tamil Nadu state meanwhile helping farmers and agri-based industries. In 1920 the university was affiliated to the University of Madras.

An array of UG, PG, and PhD level courses along with diploma courses are offered in Agriculture, Engineering, Forestry, and other areas. Admission to the university is accepted both on merit and entrance basis, some of the popular entrance exams accepted by the university are ICAR AIEEA/TNEA/TANCET/CEETA for courses like M.Tech, B.Tech, and B.Sc.

In the NIRF report for the year 2023 rank 2 has been attained by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University among the State Agricultural Universities of India and has ranked 72 under the university overall category. The university has also been accredited by prominent authorities like the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its excellence and constant efforts to empower the field of agriculture with education and research-based practices.

TNAU witnesses a good placement rate placing 400-500 graduates every year successfully in diverse sectors like agriculture, research, and technology. In the placement session 2023 a total of 312 UG (4-year) and 81 PG (2-year) students secured on-campus placements with a median salary of INR 3.7 LPA and 5.5 LPA respectively. About 60 companies and other organizations participate annually in campus interviews, some of the popular recruiters are Shrishti BioScience, Rasi Seeds, Mahindra and Mahindra, Cadbury,  IDFC Bank, and KPN Farm Fresh.

TNAU Admission 2024: Courses Offered

B.Sc and B.Tech are the flagship courses of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, the first semester fees for B.Tech cost INR 73,875 and consist total of 8 semesters. Multiple diploma courses are also offered by the university in specialisations like Farm Technology, Horticulture, Herbal Science, and Organic Agriculture. TNAU Scholarships

Several fee waiver and scholarship schemes are provided by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University like Central Government scholarships, Moovalur Ramamiratham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance scheme (Pudumaipenn), State Government free education for students from non-graduate families, Periyar Endowment scholarships, Adi Dravidar welfare scholarships and fellowships and scholarships from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and other agencies provided financial aid to deserving students. The scholarships offered vary from course to course depending on the funds provided by the concerned authorities.

TNAU Placements 2024

An annual job fair is conducted by TNAU placement cell in the month of March or April with the closure of every academic year to introduce job seekers to the plethora of industries hence, serving as a bridge between the two. The placement process is followed by interview rounds and tests specific to the job role. As per the NIRF report 2024, a total of 393 UG and PG enrolled students secured jobs from the campus. Past recruiting companies that have participated in the campus placement drive are Rasi Seeds, Olam IT, Kovai Pazhamudir Nilayam, ITC, IFFCO Kisan Call Centre, Cadbury, and others.

TNAU Infrastructure Facilities

• Separate hostels for girls and boys with access to amenities like wifi, mess, water, electricity supply, common rooms, and sports facilities. Students run messes are also made available on a dividing basis.
• A well-stocked library with national and international books, journals, monographs,  dissertations, and access to online academic resources and research-related notes.
