NEET Counselling 2024: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has started the first round of NEET UG counselling on August 14, 2024. Candidates who qualified in the NEET exam will be eligible to register at mcc.nic.in. The counselling for the NEET UG exam will be done primarily in four rounds. However, new counselling rounds will be added in case seats are left vacant after the stray vacancy round.Â
About 24 lakh students appeared for the NEET UG exam this year. Following the paper leak controversy, grace marks fiasco, and NEET re-exam for 1563 candidates, the final NEET UG result was announced on July 26, 2024. Candidates who have now cleared the exam can apply for NEET UG counselling round 1.Â
Who is eligible for NEET UG counselling 2024?
Candidates are required to fulfil the following eligibility criteria in order to apply for the NEET UG counselling process:
- Candidate must have scored above than the required cut off in NEET UG result 2024
- Jammu and Kashmir candidates are eligible for All India Quota counselling process
- Candidate must have registered with MCC for counselling

NEET UG Counselling registration to start on August 14, 2024. The link activation time is yet to be announced. Students can find the registration link here once activated on the official website.
The seat confirmation fee (refundable) is INR 10,000 for the General category. For other categories, it is INR 5000. For Deemed Universities, the fee is INR 2,00,000 (all categories).
The non refundable NEET Counselling registration fee is INR 1000 for general candidates and INR 500 for other categories. However, for deemed universities the fee is INR 5000 (all categories).

Similar to All India Quota, four rounds of NEET UG Counselling 2024 will be conducted for state quota as well.

The seat intake for the NEET UG counselling will be released after each round. The seat matrix is released on the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee.
The Round 1 state NEET Counselling will start on August 21, 2024 and ends on August 29, 2024.

Out of the total seats for UG medical courses, 15% of the seats are allocated to the All India Quota, while remaining 85% seats are filled through State Counselling. Through NEET AIQ seats, candidates can take admission to any medical institute irrespective of their domicile status.
The academic session for undergraduate medical courses will start from October 1, 2024.
After the NEET seat allotment, students have to report to the allotted college. The Round 1 college reporting will start on August 24, 2024 and will end on August 29, 2024.
The NEET UG Counselling Round 1 seat allotment process will start on August 21 to August 23, 2024. The seat allotment result will be out on August 23, 2024.
The stray vacancy round of NEET UG counselling is conducted if seats remain vacant after three rounds of the MCC Counselling.

As per the official schedule released by MCC, the seat allotment process will be done from August 21 to August 22 and the result for seat allotment round 1 will be announced on August 23, 2024. Candidates will be required to report to their allotted colleges August 24 onwards.
Candidates applying for NEET UG counselling can check the AIQ reservation policy below. The reservation is based on different categories of the candidates.
The NEET Counselling 2024 will be done in online mode. Medical Counselling Committee is responsible for conducting the central counselling rounds for AIQ seats. Meanwhile, state counselling for NEET UG is done by respective counselling bodies in each state.
NEET UG counselling registration for round 1 will begin tomorrow. However, the authorities have not specified a time for the release of registration form yet. Candidates are advised to keep checking the official MCC website and this space for latest updates.
