JEE Main 2025 State Code of Eligibility
What is State Code of Eligibility
The State Code of Eligibility refers to the state from where the candidate has passed the Class XII (or equivalent) qualifying examination. It is not based on the candidate’s place of residence or native place.
If a candidate completed Class XII from an institution in New Delhi but resides in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, their State Code of Eligibility will be Delhi, not Uttar Pradesh.
Improvement Cases:
If a candidate passed Class XII from one state but appeared for an improvement exam in another state, the State Code of Eligibility will correspond to the state where the candidate first passed the exam, not the improvement exam’s state.
NIOS Students:
Candidates passing/appearing for Class XII through NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) should select the State Code of Eligibility based on the location of their study center.
Indian Nationals (Nepal/Bhutan):
For candidates who passed Class XII in Nepal or Bhutan, the State Code of Eligibility will be determined by their permanent address in India as mentioned in their passport.
OCI Candidates (Overseas Citizens of India):
OCI candidates passing Class XII in India will have the same State Code of Eligibility as Indian nationals. OCI candidates passing Class XII from an institution abroad are only eligible for: Other State Quota Seats or All India Quota Seats in NITs, IIITs, and Other-CFTIs. They are not eligible for Home State Quota Seats.
