TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern 2024: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will release the exam pattern of the Group 2 exam on its official website. TNPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam Pattern 2024
The preliminary exam is the first stage of the TNPSC Group 2 selection process. The exam pattern is qualifying in nature. In other words, the marks scored by candidates in the preliminary examination will not be considered at the time of preparing the final merit list. - The preliminary examination will include Multiple Choice Type Questions.
- Questions from General Tamil/General English, General Studies, and Aptitude & Mental Ability will all be asked in the paper
- All other disciplines will adhere to SSLC standards, with the exception of General Studies, which is according to Degree Level.
- Candidates may select either General Tamil or General English.
- The maximum marks are 300
- The exam has a total of 200 questions. There will be 75 questions in General Studies and 25 in Aptitude and Mental Abilities. There will be 100 questions in the language paper
- Candidates must attempt language questions in the appropriate language, although Tamil or English can be used to attempt other topics.
- There won't be any negative marking

Candidates who clear the prelims examination will be allowed to take the mains examination. The exam pattern for the mains stage is tabulated below:

- The descriptive-based main exam will be administered offline.
- The first paper is of Tamil language proficiency, while the second is a general knowledge paper.
- Applicants will only be evaluated in Paper 2 if they received the minimum mark in Paper 1.
- Maximum marks for Paper 1 is 100, while it is 300 marks for Paper 2
- The duration of both Paper 1 and Paper 2 is 3 hours.
- Only the Mains marks will be taken into account for the final selection or advancement to the interview stage.
- All questions in Paper 1 will be answered in Tamil, except those requiring a translation from Tamil to English. Candidates have the option of taking Paper 2 in either Tamil or English.
Notes:
- The qualifying marks for Paper 1 in the Mains examination is 40 marks.
- The qualifying marks for Paper 2 in the Mains examination is 90 marks for non-interview posts and 102 for interview posts.

If candidates pass the Mains examination, they will take part in the TNPSC Group 2 interview stage. The interview stage carries 40 marks and is conducted in offline mode. The TNPSC Group 2 final merit list takes into account the marks obtained by candidates during the interview stage.
