CBSE Maths Paper Class 10 – Important Theorems
Students preparing for the CBSE Maths 10th Board exam must practice each and every topic but have more focus on the below theorems as they are significant from the exam point of view:
- Pythagoras Theorem –The Pythagorean theorem states that in a right-angled triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides.
- Basic Proportionality Theorem (Thales Theorem)- The Basic Proportionality Theorem, also known as Thales’ Theorem, states that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle, then it divides the other two sides proportionally.
- Similarity of Triangles Theorem- The Similarity of Triangles Theorem states that if two triangles have corresponding angles that are equal, then the triangles are similar. In other words, if the angles of one triangle are congruent to the angles of another triangle, then the triangles are similar.
- Midpoint Theorem- The Midpoint Theorem states that if a line segment has its midpoint marked, then the line segment is divided into two equal parts.
- Angle Bisector Theorem- The Angle Bisector Theorem states that in a triangle, the angle bisector of a particular angle divides the opposite side into segments that are proportional to the lengths of the other two sides.
- Theorem of Quadrilaterals –There are various theorems for quadrilaterals like parallelogram, rhombus, etc. All these theorems are equally important for the exam.
- Theorem of similarity of chords- The Theorem of Similarity of Chords, also known as the Intercepted Arcs Theorem or Inscribed Angle Theorem, states that if two chords intersect within a circle, then the product of the lengths of the segments of one chord is equal to the product of the lengths of the segments of the other chord.
- Basic Properties of Triangles –These properties are fundamental in geometry and are often used to solve problems involving triangles, such as finding missing angles or side lengths, determining congruence or similarity, and calculating areas.
