Many students aspiring to join B.E/B.Tech programs after completing Class XII choose to prepare for various engineering entrance exams. Among these, the JEE Main 2024 exam holds significant appeal for those seeking admission to diverse B.Tech specialisations. Given the intense competition, many aspirants also consider alternative options as a backup plan. These alternatives encompass various engineering entrance exams like VITEEE 2024 and others. A common dilemma faced by students is whether to prepare separately for each exam or focus on those with a syllabus similar to JEE Main.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a few minor changes in the JEE Main syllabus 2024 in its latest notification. Some chapters in all three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics – have been removed. This decision to delete certain chapters aligns with the changes made to the Class 11 and 12 syllabus by NCERT.
This article offers a brief analysis of the syllabus for two well-known engineering exams, JEE Main 2024 and VITEEE 2024. Before delving into the comparison, it’s crucial for students to understand that the JEE Main syllabus for B.E/B.Tech admission covers only Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, whereas the VITEEE syllabus includes an additional section on Aptitude and English.

Conclusion
It is clear from the following syllabus comparison tables that the VITEEE syllabus covers nearly all of the topics included in the JEE exam, while being less than the JEE Main syllabus. Therefore, if students are already studying for JEE Main, there is no need for them to prepare for VITEEE separately. They must, however, prepare separately for the English and Aptitude sections of the VITEEE exam as they are uncommon.
