PhD (Engineering)
IIT Kanpur PhD (Engineering) is the doctoral program offered by all engineering departments. The qualifying degree for the PhD course is MTech with marks not below the specified minimum. The institute also conducts a written test and interview for the shortlisted candidates.
Eligibility
- Students must have a MTech degree with 55% marks
- They can also have a BTech with 75% marks and a valid GATE score. The GATE requirement is waived off in case the BTech is from a CFTI.
- MSc with 65% marks is also accepted with JRF or GATE score
- Final admission will be offered based on the interview.
Fees
- The tuition fee for the M.Tech program at IIT Kanpur is INR 2500 per semester.
- Candidates from SC/ST/PWD categories are exempted from the tuition fee.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates who are willing to apply for IIT Kanpur PhD admissions should have a M.Tech degree with 55% marks.
Those who have a BTech with 75% marks and a valid GATE score can also apply.
Candidates who have completed their BTech from CFTIs with 75% or more marks do not need to appear for the GATE examination.
An MSc with 65% marks and valid JRF or GATE score is also accepted as the qualifying degree.
