The objective of the APAAR scheme is to set up a unified student identification system which is called 'One Nation, One Student ID'
APAAR is an initiative under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) which requires college students to register on the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). Under the new rule, possessing an ABC ID is mandatory for university admission
The emphasis of this scheme is to provide AAPAR IDs to all school students verify them with Aadhaar, and link them to Digi Locker
There's also a potential business model in the works for village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) to enhance transparency and accessibility in school and higher education
The government is aiming to cover around 10000 institutions in the next 1.5 years using technology platforms like Samarth, Swayam, and Diksha
