CBSE has introduced two board exams for Class 10 from the academic year 2025-26. The first main exam will be conducted in February and the second in May 2026.

In this two board exam system, the first board exam will be mandatory for all students while the second exam will be for all those students who wish to improve their scores.

Students will be allowed to appear for the second exam to improve their performance for up to only three subjects such as Science, Maths, Social Science, or languages.

Only those students who have appeared in three or more subjects in the February exams will be eligible to appear for the second CBSE board exams.

The results for the first CBSE board 10th exam will be declared in April while that of the second exam will be released by June.

However, the internal assessment for the CBSE board class 10 students will be conducted once a year.

Students who fail in one or two subjects in the first board exam will be placed under compartment category for the second board exam of the same academic year.

There is no change in exam mode, syllabus and pattern of question-paper as of now.
