Photo: Indian Express As per the recently released All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2023-24 report, Computer Engineering has emerged as the most preferred engineering branch among Indian students pursuing engineering.

Photo: Indian Express AISHE 2023-24 report states that out of the total 8,33,808 students enrolled in Engineering & Technology Undergraduate programmes across India, around one third of the total number, i.e. 2,62,408 students, are pursuing Computer Engineering,

The AISHE 2023-24 Report also highlights the hike in the number of students choosing technical education for higher education. With the total enrolment in higher education enrolment was reported to be 4.5 crore students in 2023–24, the number of enrolments in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines crossed one crore. The report suggests that a total of 46,33,868 students are enrolled in Engineering and Technology, encompassing undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated, MPhil, and PhD programmes.
