The Government of India established the 7th Pay Commission to provide support to government employees, including IAS officers, by designing a compensation structure that ensures their social standing aligns with their job profile

According to the 7th Pay Commission, the initial salary for an IAS officer is approximately INR 56,100, with the salary rising to INR 2,50,000 at the Cabinet Secretariat level

Dearness Allowance: Government employees receive Dearness Allowance as a cost-of-living adjustment allowance. A regular increase in this component makes it a crucial part of an IAS officer's compensation.

Medical Allowance: IAS salaries include a medical allowance that can be refunded to employees when medical treatment is required.

Travel Allowance: The IAS salary encompasses a travel allowance, and IAS officers are also provided with subsidized accommodation in government lodges during official and non-official trips

Study Leaves: IAS officers would be granted two years of paid leave to further their studies. They will be unable to quit from service for three years after returning to work. However, they must have served for at least nine years
