“There is no unemployment in this course, once a student qualifies,” ICAI’s new President shares future plans

The ICAI launched the new syllabus scheme for the chartered accountancy qualification exam last year. Under this a total of 1.29 lakh students have registered to appear for the May-June session.

The institute plans to hold its first intermediate and final examinations based on the new syllabus in early May this year. However, the schedule might change due to the possibility of Lok Sabha elections being held in the same month.

Agarwal said that by 2047 “For every one trillion dollar growth in the economy, there is an expected requirement of 1 lakh chartered accountants. By the time India reaches its 100 years of independence, there will be an expected requirement of 30 lakh CAs”

He also explained about the new initiative called ‘each one, teach one’ where existing CA members will be encouraged to handhold at least one CA student.

Agarwal also announced that out of the 22000 qualified candidates, 9000 were placed from the campus and others took better opportunities outside the campus placements.

The highest package of Rs 24 lakh was offered to a student meanwhile the highest package abroad stood at Rs 41 lakh per annum. The average package last year stood at Rs 12 lakh per annum.de the campus.

There are currently 8.5 lakh students pursuing the CA course across India.
