Ratan Tata was born in Mumbai in 1937 where he attended the Campion School till Class 8

After Class 8, Tata shifted to Cathedral and John Connon School, followed by Bishop Cotton School and finally the Riverdale Country School in New York City, where he graduated from high school in 1955

Continuing his studies in New York, he attended the Cornell University obtained a Bachelor’s degree, graduating in 1959

Tata donated $50 million to Cornell University, becoming the largest international donor in the university’s history

Tata also extended his support to the Faculty of Engineering at University of New South Wales to develop capacitive deionization to provide improved water for challenged areas

Additionally, the Tata group contributed $50 million for the construction of an executive centre at Harvard Business School

In 2014, the Tata group donated Rs 950 million to IIT Bombay and established the Tata Center for Technology and Design (TCTD)
