The QS World Future Skills Index has ranked India’s job market second in terms of preparedness to recruit for the most in-demand future skills, including in the key areas of AI, digital and green

In this index, India places 25th overall when all four parameters are combined. These parameters are skills fit, academic readiness, future of work, economic transformation

The indicator called the ‘future of work’ measures a country’s readiness to recruit individuals for the jobs of tomorrow

In terms of ‘skills fit’, which indicates how well a country’s education systems align with employer demands, India has achieved a score of 59.1, the lowest among the top 30 countries overall

In academic readiness, India ranks at 26th position globally. The parameter measures how well a country is positioned to deliver the skills necessary for future industries

India has also attained 40th position with an overall score of 58.3 in terms of economic transformation. This indicates how ready a country’s economy is to leverage the next wave of skills-led industrial growth

The report also provides key recommendations for areas that require improvement, including increasing tertiary education supply and modularising approach to higher education
