India leads as the most-represented nation in THE Asia University Rankings 2026

The Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026  have been announced. China has yet again secured the top position, while India walks ahead with the maximum number of ranked institutions. According to the released data, a total of 128 Indian Institutions have been ranked this year. The number has increased from 107 last year.

A total of 12 Indian Institute have been listed under the top 200 ranks as per the recent The Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026. The IISC Bengaluru has gained the top position in the list of Indian insitutes with a rank of 43.

BITS Pilani has opted out of THE Asia University Rankings, along with many Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) such as Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, and Guwahati, which had already stopped participating in the rankings over concerns of fairness and transparency in the judgment procedure.
